Bulge on passenger side rear tire

Was just down in the garage and I noticed that my passenger side rear tire has a bulge in it. How bad is this? Do I need to go find another tire....

thanks

Re: Bulge on passenger side rear tire

Where did you purchase the tires from? That bulge should qualify as a manufacturers defect, so you should be able to get a pro-rated amount toward a new replacement tire.

Re: Bulge on passenger side rear tire

My buddy had a lump way bigger than that on his tire on his van for a while and he had to end up getting it replaced. Not until he beat the shit outa it for a while. Probably not a great idea, but you should be able to drive on it for a while if you need. Better to get it replaced sooner than later.

Yeah, I would get it replaced pretty soon. You broke a cord inside the tire. Don't get too crazy with corners or high speed until you get it replaced.

That sucks. What kind of tires are they and how many miles are on them? Getting warranty coverage at a shop w/o an invoice is going to be pretty tough.

Most likely due to hitting a hard bump in the road. I've seen it happen many times. If you ignore it you risk the chance of the tire blowing out while driving.

Re: Bulge on passenger side rear tire

If I were you, this is what I would do (don't blame me or hold me responsible if you die or wreck anything): Drive on it for another month, put the summer tires on, and worry about it come fall. OR, see if you can get a single tire on closeout from Tirerack and have them shave it to the same tread depth as the current tire(s).

Try craigslist or Ebay.

Re: Bulge on passenger side rear tire

i dont know if you guys have this up there, but usually if i have a dire need for a new tire but dont have the cash, ill go to a hole in the wall tire shop (an independant one) and get a used tire. They usually sell for like 20-25 bucks. and will likely get you by till summer.
