Re: 1994 Talon TSi
I can setup NLTS also, if you run a wire from your cruise control switch to ECU pin #104.

Re: 1994 Talon TSi
Maybe, I'm not real sure how hard NLTS is on trannies though...

Re: 1994 Talon TSi
Well I tore the turbo off this weekend, I figured even if it wasn't 100% shot I better freshen it up before I switch to E85. With that being said, I got my brand spankin new PTE 1200cc injectors in the mail today that I got a great deal on (Thanks again Jvsc91Talon!) So I plan on getting this turbo rebuilt and then gettting this thing on the corn ASAP.
I took the turbo apart and blasted the housings, ran everything else through the parts washer, and will be bringing it all to jhaan_dude tomorrow to have him replace the seals, send the shaft out to get balanced, replace what needs replacing, etc.
Here are some before and afters:
Also cleaned up the O2 housing, it looked like crap, so I ran it through the wire wheel.
I wanted to get some pics of the wheels and shaft on the turbo but the camera wasn't cooperating to get the detail I wanted in the photos. There was some ever so slight scoring in the shaft and a tiny tiny amount of damage in the compressor wheel where it had touched the housing somewhere along the line. It had a little more than normal side-to-side shaft play and some pretty bad end-to-end play. (like 1/32-1/16 or so)
So I am pretty glad I took the turbo off, now I know exactly what I will have and will have the peace of mind that it won't blow up on the dyno once I throw about 100 more HP to it.

Re: 1994 Talon TSi
I've decided to go a different direction with this car, so I got some parts for it! I Picked up a Turbonetics (think its a look alike) Manifold from slowbubblecar, an SC-61 from jhaan, and will be picking up an external wastegate soon from 95talonracer. Then I need to replace the headgasket, I will be going with a permatorque and L19's. After that the only thing I will need is a custom o2 housing (because I am going to try to reroute the wastegate instead of dumping it) and a tune and this thing should be good to go sooner or later

Re: 1994 Talon TSi
Looks good! Good luck getting your hood to close with that manifold, they were designed for a 2g, and there isn't enough clearance between the wastegate and the hood on a 1g. And yes, that's a copy of the turbonetics manifold.

Re: 1994 Talon TSi
Yeah, TKR's brother (Craig on here) had the turbonetics manifold on his 1g and had to make a little extension off the manifold to angle the wastegate down enough to clear the hood.

Re: 1994 Talon TSi
Well I do know a few good welders/fabricators in my area, so it shouldn't be to hard to figure it out. Anyways, thanks for the heads up dude! One less thing to surprise me down the road.

Fuck ya, I was thinking it would be worse. I think I would just have Sean do that up quick this winter for about 5 bucks.
Thanks craig!

Re: 1994 Talon TSi
Picked up this huge ass external wastegate from Kerry (95talonracer) a few days ago.
Also edited the first post to show the dyno sheets from the old setup with the Hahn Super 16g on shitty 91 oct pump.

Re: 1994 Talon TSi
Picked up a few things the last couple weeks. Got some A1 headstuds, AEM wideband, bigger FMIC (Swifty's) and some KYB GR-2 struts with Eibach pro-kit springs on them, all for about $800. Also going to have an old friend do some upholstery work with the hatch cover I bought from TKR, and the door panels I bought from kerry and have him redo them in black suede to match the seats and carpet. I'll put more pics up when there is progress on some of this stuff.
$200 well spent I hope....

Re: 1994 Talon TSi
Well, I picked up some more parts this weekend. Still haven't been able to get anything done on this thing though
Swifty's old Dejon Tool 28 x 11 x 3" FMIC, and the sweet SMIM John made that kicked the competitions ass in the SMIM Showdown last year. I plan on getting the SMIM powdercoated black, and probably have some nitrous bungs installed before hand on each runner. When the car is all done, I plan on doing a back-to-back testing of the stock IM vs the REEF "Race" manifold.

Re: 1994 Talon TSi
Dropped off a bunch of stuff for Primo to do for me. The intake manifold, and 2g throttle body elbow for wrinkle black powdercoating, the turbine housing and exhaust manifold for ceramic coating, headlights to get blacked out, and taillights to be tinted and clear corners to get tinted.

Re: 1994 Talon TSi
Got some of the stuff back from Primo Performance today, they did a great job!!
Manifold:
This is just to show the inside of the SMIM:
TB elbow:
Corner markers:
Tail lights:
For the original plastic on the tail light assembly I plan on using Mother's Back to Black, it brings back the original luster to old faded plastic peices, I tested some on my WRX C pillar and it turned out pretty good so I'm going to use it on these also.
Overall everything I picked up today was great quality A++ for Primo, thanks guys!!
