Re: 1994 Talon TSi
I would think there would be a how to on it, so you know for sure. Brakes are definitely something I would want to be 100% sure on.
If you can't find it maybe I can find my service manual cd and see if it shows in there.

Re: 1994 Talon TSi
I think I will go to DB tommorow to look at Mara's 1g and draw myself a little diagram so I know where they go. Also to see how the 90 OFH and external oil filter housing is plumbed so I can hook up the one I picked up today.

Re: 1994 Talon TSi
Got the non-ABS brake lines I needed, so I will be putting those on later today probably. Now I just need the two banjo bolts that attach the 90 OFH to the 90 oil cooler, so I can install that.

Re: 1994 Talon TSi
Small Update. John Gosh called me yesterday with an update, he had my engine all apart, discovered that it has already been punched .020 over. This ruled out a bore since I don't want to buy new pistons, I told him to just hone it and re-ring it. We will see how that goes, and if it improves compression compared to before. I also had him put new ACL Race bearings in it also.

Re: 1994 Talon TSi
Well apparently Mahle pistons use special rings, and the nearest set is in North Carolina. Sooo, I am still waiting to get my engine back because of the rings.

Re: 1994 Talon TSi
Got my engine and head back on Saturday. Got the engine on the stand and got a couple things put back onto the engine, I am still waiting for gaskets to finish it up. Once that is all assembled, I will be mounting the battery, finishing up the brake lines, and putting the motor back in the car. This next week I will most likely be ordering a TRE stage 3.0, and a Comp Stage 4 clutch and a boost-a-pump. I will be bringing the car to Primo to have them fab up an o2 housing, EWG dump tube and intercooler pipes for me, then I will wire up my gauges and I should be good to go. Still shooting for the Dyno day to be my deadline for finishing this project up. Then hopefully I can leave it alone for about a good year or so. lol

Re: 1994 Talon TSi
Spent about an hour on the phone today with Jon from TRE, and I scrapped the TRE 3.0 idea. I'll be getting the tranny from this car instead.
Well, it won't be the exact tranny, but its an exact duplicate. When these guys originally called Jon at TRE, they wanted 4 transmissions all at once because they figured they would go through them all in one season. Well, Jon said to just try the one and see how it went, but still built 4 identical transmissions just in case. He hasn't seen them back at his shop since 2006. That car is over 900 AWHP and over 750 AWTQ right now, with shifts at over 9,000 RPM. He still had the other 3 laying around, so I decided to snag one of them up.

Re: 1994 Talon TSi
Is the gearing in that trans any different than a normal trans?

Re: 1994 Talon TSi
I will get crappy cell pics up later, but 95tsi and I got the motor all put back together and in the car Saturday morning/afternoon/night.
Hit about 5,000 little problems, so it took literally like 14 hours lol. Cut off all the unneeded parts of the motor mounts, modified the PS bracket so you can get the exhaust manifold off without taking off PS also. I think most of the problems are because I have changed SOOOO many things, and all at once. Different intake mani, exhaust mani, turbo, turbo feed and drain lines, deleted ABS, cut up motor mounts, I will be re-mounting the battery in the trunk, new intercooler, IC piping, EWG, dump tube, Coil pack relocation, 90 OFH and 90 external oil cooler, n/t water pipe, n/t t-stat housing, etc. Just so many things all at once makes it a little tougher to piece everything together and make it all work.
Also, I had Shane order me a Comp Stage 4 Sprung clutch on Friday.

Re: 1994 Talon TSi
Would never have gotten this thing together without Kerry (95talonracer)having this exact seal just laying around at 10:00 PM Friday night since Mitsu had given me the wrong part. Thanks again man!!
The head gasket on the block:
Getting it together:
Love the way the manifold looks (sorry, this picture may make you dizzy lol):
