Any body using tmo chips?

There is one for sale on ebay right now that is a stage 3 which is perfect for my setup right now. I have a e-prom ecu so that also helps. Just looking for feedback. Is anybody using one or have any experience with one? Who can socket it?

Re: Any body using tmo chips?

Or get in touch with LightningGSX on this board as he can burn some pretty good chips too, plus socket your ECU and it is all done locally, saving on shipping. He burnt one for me and I have had great luck with it thus far.

Re: Any body using tmo chips?

I'll confess, the ones on ebay aren't worth your while. Then I ran a keydiver chip right when he started burning them with the different fuel maps for injectors and mas airflow compensations which worked awesome on my 91 with 550's and a 2g mas. I've more recently been working with Eric now though. He can do everything that the keydiver can do and more. Plus he's local like Matt said, and it's easy for him to reburn a chip in no time if you upgrade anything in your setup.

Re: Any body using tmo chips?

Am I the only one that can't seem to find anything out about DSMLink for 1G's? They don't mention anything on their site and I can't find anything by searching, just speculation about a release date and nothing newer than late October. Did it come out and I am just dumb and can't find where it is?

Re: Any body using tmo chips?

Contact the people at DSMLink. I'm pretty sure it's out now, but keep in mind I drive a 2g and don't follow 1g cars that much. I just installed their new v2.5 client software and during the install it asked if I had a 1g or 2g DSMLink. So either it's out or it's about to be.

Re: Any body using tmo chips?

From anything that I've seen DSMLink is not officially out for 1G's. Supposedly it is out on some pilot runs but the official release has not been made yet.

Re: Any body using tmo chips?

Mention has been made that it is out, I'd contact DSMlink directly about it. BTW, I've got two 1G Eprom ECU's for sale, one with a real TMO stage 3 chip and one with a Keydiver chip setup for my application.

So, for not dropping the $600, are the chips worth it or should I just hold out and buy dsm link. My roomate (9guy9) uses it and I like the features.

Re: Any body using tmo chips?

IMO, Buy the $40 willem eprom programmer off Ebay(it works very well), buy a few $2 blank chips, and download Evilscribe or TunerPro with the 1g-E931 definition file(both free). As long as you can follow directions(NO programming experience required) you can easily burn your own custom chips and save yourself anywhere from $50 to $600.With the amount of info on the 1g eprom out now, there's NO reason to buy Dsmlinks or keydiver chips for 1gs.

Re: Any body using tmo chips?

What would you suggest to use for burning EPROMs? I have heard eprom burners are upwards of $150. I have also heard you can use NICs to burn eproms.

Doh! Do you know if it will work on an AMD Athlon machine? How much would it cost if I had you socket my ECU?

I don't see why it wouldn't.Go to http://www.willem.org/ details of the programmer software are there, there is even plans/schematics if you want to build your own programmer.

I usually charge $20 to socket 1g ECUs, for an extra $15-$20 I can put a ZIF(Zero Insertion Force) socket in there too, this makes changing EPROMS very easy

Re: Any body using tmo chips?

Hey, how come in the keydrivers forum they say you can't socket a non-socketed ecu because you need a daughter board, couple processors, etc?
