T28 Boost?

Well I found a great deal on a T28, and just wondering what other people run on them for boost as a daily driver? The Guy i bought it from said he ran 17 psi, and i will be able to do that once i get a Greddy Type-S which i am on my way to getting. so i won't have to worry about the 2g BOV leaking. i am completly stock besides this turbo.

Re: T28 Boost?

Don't go too crazy on the boost with the stock intercooler. They can't take too much of an increase in airflow without heatsoaking and knocking like a bitch.

Re: T28 Boost?

I would say around 13 to 15 psi with stock fuel.

Re: T28 Boost?

Which version of the T28 is it? There are atleast 3 commonly used versions of the T28 on 2Gs. The fuel pump might not be a problem, he isn't going to make a crap load of power with a T28 and stock intercooler. Also the stock 2G fuel pumps flow about 30% more fuel than the stock 1G pumps. A rewire will give him about as much flow as the old Denso upgrade fuel pump un-rewired.

I would run around 15psi until you get a FMIC or a DSMLink to see if it's knocking.

I would also wait until you install a different BOV before you put on the turbo. The stock 2G BOV would most likely leak at 15 psi.

Re: T28 Boost?

Im running the FP Big T28 with the 14 psi Actuator and as a daily i run 16-17 psi with no fuel and stock IC and IC piping. Runs pretty good but im an auto so its pretty sluggish off the start, if your a manual i dont think you will have a problem.

Re: T28 Boost?

Hrm completely stock? I'd consider my 2g mild (although I do have the supporting mods on the shelf). I've got a ported FP B28 running @ 17psi on the stock fuel, stock IC, unported O2 housing & e.manifold, upgraded exhaust and upper ic pipes w/ type s bov. You will have to do something about the fuel if you plan to go beyond 15psi safely. You can either listen to these "OG's" or learn the hard way like me. Fuel cut is not a fun thing to experience. Play it safe @ around 15 and you should be ok until you get more support. It's a "fun" turbo, if you aren't looking for an outrageous HP number.

Just because you are running 16-17 psi and it "runs good" doesn't mean you aren't knocking really bad.
