FP Intake

Are any of you ladies running the FP 4" intake in a 1G with the 14B & 2G MAS? The way I am interpreting FP's information on their website is that the above combination will not work. However, I have seen pictures of people doing it before so I'm curious as to why it is advertised as not working? Is there a clearance issue somewhere along the line?

Thanks

Re: FP Intake

I am pretty sure it will work. I think carey had one he was using that didn't fit the 2g very well, but I would think it will fit a 1g. I am having a 4" intake made out of a 4" 90 elbow for my car, but if that won't be that easy to do, I will probably buy one from them. I think they aer pretty cheap.

Re: FP Intake

Maybe I'm not understanding the question right but I'm using an FP 4" Intake with my turbo. And I guess it would work if you had a reducer to go from the 4" down to the 14B/T25 size.

Re: FP Intake

I have the 4" FP Intake on my 99 GSX. There is no problem with the 2g MAS. The only problem I see is finding a reducer from 4" to 2"(or whatever the inlet on a 14b is).

I have a 4" to 3" reducer for my 50trim that you can see in the picture. Find the right reducer and you should have no problem making it work.

Re: FP Intake

FP has the reducer available to run the 4" intake with the 14B. My conern is why it is advertised(at least how I'm interpreting it) that the intake does not work with the 14B, 2G Mas, 1G combination.

This is for my '92 Laser.

Re: FP Intake

I forget what the 1G Mas hook up looks like. Is it the same as a 2g? If so then it should work.

Otherwise it's probably just overkill.

Re: FP Intake

I'm gonna have to agree with Brian. Perhaps they don't list it as an option because it's just not practical and probably overkill. Many people retrofit a 2g intake pipe and then fab a 2 1/2" or so stainless pipe where the accordian part is. However, if you plan on upgrading to 50trim type turbo later on, then i could see getting the FP pipe. I'm unsure why they don't list it for a 1g MAS. I'm not sure on the dimensions of it. Can you measure the output side of the 1g MAS? I can pop mine apart and measure the oval diameter and you can see if it would work from there.

Re: FP Intake

The large intake pipe diameter won't clearance the 14B's wastegate actuator. Have you checked out Dejon's stuff too? They pretty much have intake pipe fitments broken down.

The OD of a 1G MAS is 3 1/8" so using a 4" pipe with a 1G MAS makes no sense, your best bet would either be a 3" or 2.5" depending in your turbo setup.

Re: FP Intake

Why would you run a 4" intake on any thing smaller than a turbo with a 4" inlet anyways?

Re: FP Intake

I am going to be using a 2G MAS Air Sensor, not a 1G, a 2G.

I have considered a Dejon intake but I like the cast feature of the FP much better along with the ease of polishing it. Plus the FP intake, even with the necessary couplers and BOV return tube, is an excellent product for the total cost.

Why would I run a 4" intake? Because.

After checking out Dejon's website again, ^^^ looks to be the primary issue.

If I can find anyone to sell me a stock 2G intake pipe I may also have JET make me an SS intake pipe.

Re: FP Intake

Dejon makes a pipe specially for use on 1G's running a 2G MAS.

Re: FP Intake

One clearance issue might be from the air filter running into the stock upper i/c piping. I gave my brother an injen intake w/ 2g mas, and w/ his stock 1g filter/homemade adapter, it would not fit with his stock smic/uicp. the intake as a whole is too long.

just a thought.

Maybe he has seen the quality of the Dejon pieces and that is why he is looking elsewhere.

I was wondering that also. It is too big for the 50trim also. I had a blingin' chrome one for my 3" 60 trim. Not polished
