Decking the Head

1992 AWD 6bolt
I am pulling the head to put on a new Mitsu metal headgasket. If I am correct, this headgasket is thicker than the factory one. Should the head be decked? I also believe my head is warped (I will find out this weekend hopefully), and if that is the case it must be decked, correct? How much can you shave off the head safely with a stock engine?

Re: Decking the Head

Yeah, if it is warped you need to deck it. You can easily take .010" off, I would say .020" is the limit from what I have read.
