do you park with your hood open or something? i've never understood so much time spent making the motor look nice. seems like most of the people here have cars to show off to other people :stick:

Exactly....
And it's not that we "Show off" our cars. It's that we take "Pride" in our cars.
And Some of us don't just "Race" our cars. there are a few of us that actually take our cars to "Car Shows" (when our cars are running and if we have the $$$ of coarse)

"Ok", so what you are saying is, you "Go Home" and pop your hood and look at your motor and feel proud of yourself. Feeling "Pride" is a one-person event. Doing something that other people will admire is "Showing Off". Why do you build a car that in your opinion is fast and good looking? Because you "Race"? Why do you "Race"? I do it for the "Thrill" of going fast. From what I have seen, 95% of the people here do it at least in part for the "Respect" and "Admiration" of other people, by posting dyno numbers, pictures, and making things shiny. Other people do not need to be involved to have "Pride". When you "Show" other people, you are "Showing Off". I don't have a problem with it, I just think it is funny, similar to "Quoting" and "Capitalizing" random words like "Pride" and "Race". "Showing Off" is funny because car-based "Egos" are hilarious.
I'm running out of words to "Quote". It is "Interesting" to see why different people are involved in cars. Please note I say "Different", not "Better" or "Worse". It's all "Good".

The biggest reason why i like to keep my engine bay clean and looking good is for me, plus it shows to other people that i am not cutting corners and that i care about the car.
its like lets say you just change your clothes but you do not change your underwear, you have skid marks and crap on the inside of the boxers... but hey people dont' see it, do you not care about it?
When the engine bay is clean it is a lot easier to work on the car, and see any potential problems.

yeah go clean your underwear boyi!!

E,
that was a very interested enaligy :stick: (j/k)
Really we share Cause we can. - I'm proud of my hard work, I mod my car the way I want to. You don't see me running Stock Body kit, None painted interior cause that's what everyone else likes do you/wants me to do? - Hell NO.
My car is my from of Relief from Life. I've spent the last 8 years getting to this point with it, in one way or another.
As far as showing it off to people, what ever you might think,
-I'm not looking for approval from anyone
-I'm not competing with anyone.
-I set my goals for myself, and I try to attain them.
-If people want to know what I have under the hood, so be it.
-I share my work cause for me it's nice to hear about how others are coming along and what's new with everyone.... just another way of sparking conversations
I find going to the hang outs, and cars shows fun. Why? cause it's a chance to meet people, and to discuss a shared interest. I don't go there show off what I have. For the most part I park my car and most of the time I just lock it and walk away and start talking with other people. I don't know maybe I don't get how you get showing off with wanting a nice looking car/Engine bay? if you want to put showing off along those lines, then wouldn't "racing" be "showing off" as well? Cause I think it would be in the same category.
You say you do it for fun. Ok that's fine.... well we polish our engine bays, and make our cars look the way we want to because it's fun as well. Which means by your words, that we aren't showing off anymore.
Anyways Like I always say it's your car, mod yours the way you want. Cause your the one who owns it.

Hey you know Im feelin alright. But you know as well as I do. That Honda Powerplant has owned many a DSM from this site. Only a handful we know of in here would have the chot at taking her down. Lately probably a bigger handful with her limpin now but hey its all good.
Anyone know of any good solid DSM's for sale?

:toast: Now that is funny, a solid dsm that an owner would want to get rid of? You must be ill.
To everyone else bickering about cleaning your engine bay.
lets stop the drama, some people do take pride in how there car appears/runs/etc. Everyone is in it for something different, the important part is that we all understand each others addictions.

how bout that laser awd with a salvage title for cheap for sale on here? Prolly in better shape then most dsm's for sale without a salvage title from what I've experienced. Or just get one like I did, without a damn title. Then try to get one for it, oh man whatta nightmare, and all for some car that is always busted. But my broke ass talon with no title has prolly the cleanest engine bay outta anyone i know!

tyler,
Just post up what you're looking for. If you want my car I'd sell it for $15,000 (ya right I'll get that price)
but then I'd sell the concorde and buy that RSP 6spd MKIV that's for sale here in MN.
