20g Compressor housing question

I have a 20g, numbers on housing are 49179-54900, 12 blade. That has been sitting on the shelf in my garage and don't know much about it. I spun a rod bearing in my motor after just getting the turbo rebuilt . And ever since its been sitting on the shelf. Now that my motor is going together i have torn into the turbo to rebuild it / clean it. I have a 3" compressor housing for a TDO5-TDO6 that i got in a bin of parts i bought from some guy that never used it. Wondering if there is any benefits of going from the 2-1/4" or what ever it is outlet on the compressor housing to the 3" inch ? I would have to mess around with mounting the wastage actuator if i wanted to switch.

thanks !
