This block still good?!?
So I was going to start prepping the block for tear down and noticed that the guy who built it before jb welded the freeze plugs in, figured I could still grind and pound them out, but then I noticed this wear from the water pump.. This has me worried the block is no good. Any thoughts?

Hmmm, I wouldn't use it personally. It might be fine, but I'm not sure how well the pump would work with that huge clearance.

Re: This block still good?!?
I think my old block was like that, I had no cooling issues driving it in 100* heat in TX.
I think you will find most DSM blocks to be like that these days.

Y'all need to change your water pumps out more frequently.

Wow that sure is a big groove! Like Aaron said above, it'll probably work fine.

Re: This block still good?!?
Well just found something else out. Any reason why they would have Jb welded multiple oil galleys closed? From the #1 main to the front case and then 2 more

I've only kept one motor long enough to do a water pump on!

Re: This block still good?!?
blocks are cheap, don't risk it. The majority of the $$ you'll have tied up into it is not in the block casting itself, so sense in risking it on a sketchy block.
