Re: Swifty's never-ending project thread!

MAP's fdsm. When we where in ohio, they kept blowing oil out the filter like no other..crankcase pressure was going way high. So, they did that new setup with 4 -10 lines.

Re: Swifty's never-ending project thread!

Usually you want -10 lines and 2 to 6 of them when making some power. Not that I have/had anything like that. The high HP Honda guys have to do some pretty crazt catch can setups. We just let our dipsticks blow out to relieve pressure.

yep. i saw dustin's honda..wow.

I got their setup and new lines cuz the price was right..i don't think i'll be needing -10 yet, but we will see how tuning goes.

Re: Swifty's never-ending project thread!

More pics. Upper pipe is done, and made. Got the 90 TPS to mod for the q45 tb (thanks Mark!) lower ic pipe is mocked and getting welded up, fuse box is relocated to the inner fender, and wiring has begun. Tomorrow, we are tackling the firewall and those wires. I'm still looking at maybe filling in unused holes, and spraying black again to make it look a bit better..

Theme of the day: I'm a dumbass!!

As the title states, we found more shit wrong..something rather major actually. Turns out the revving issue I had, COULD be very well attributed to a BAD GROUND-more-so, one that was NEVER BOLTED DOWN!! I dunno if it was whom I baught the car from, or when I had it apart before( I forget ever even seeing this tab) but this is what it looked like :

In the spare harness we used, and cut it out (relocating the MSD to the inside, and etc) this shows what all that ground is for, amongst other things:

Now that that issue has been sorted out, it will FOR SURE be grounded now. The upper and lower pipes are done, BOV and AIT is on, TB is modified for the 90 dsm TPS (thanks Mark for the sensor!) injectors are in (thanks Andrew!) timing belt is done, FJO is moved over to the back far corner, intake on for mock up, and figuring out vac lines, etc.

Progress pics as of now..

JAKEY, I know you like weld X-rays:

Done for the week. I have a Sparco seat sitting in my bedroom, while the passenger side compartment is torn apart to mount/move hte MSD box, work on more grounds/wiring for the AEM. Still to do:
AEM grounds
MSD finish relocation/wiring
FJO wiring
Wire wideband O2 to AEM for monitoring/tuning
Finish other assorted wiring
install JMF intake/piping permenantly now that mock up is done (get t-bolt clamps
Mock/make air intake pipe/get filter
Degree cams
Reinstall VC and COP setup
Install the catch can/breather lines
Install QTP 3" cutout/wiring
Swap out gases
Change AEM tables
Start?

That's roughly it! BIG THANKS to John (pushurshitin2.0) for helping me out with wiring. I HATE doing that crap, but he makes it look easy!

That's all for now folks!

Whenever I see that picture it makes me think of Transformers...anyways, the car does look A LOT cleaner with all the wiring gone.

The #3 engine bay ground is an important thing to have hooked up. This is a ground for the CAS, Coils, Transistor, and another ECU ground.

Goddamn I love wire tucks.

Swifty I'm so glad I made you make this thread; its almost like it's given you motivation to get you shit in gear and get this thing rockin! Good deal that you found that extra ground, hopefully that helps with some of the issues you'd been having. My only complaint is the QTP cutout; I hate those things, maybe you will to after owning one for a while? We'll see

Actually another one too: how do you keep moisture/condensation out of that upside down fuse box in the fender? Does it get sealed up at all or just x fingers and hope it doesn't break?

Re: Swifty's never-ending project thread!

the QTP is not on the car yet, still gotta figure that schtuff out. There isn't much room that it will fit well, and have ground clearance. I won't drive everywhere with it off, but I am gonna test how it effects spool-up. If it's not a HUGE difference I may just take it off and sell it. Afterall, this is still a street car, so I have my ipod, heat, wipers, etc.

Fuse box is getting a metal plate that will seal off the bottom (now top) part of it. it will also have the stock lid covering things on the bottom. There shouldn't be too much moisture in there, as I don't think i'd be driving it on rainy days, but then again, we all can get caught out in this MN weather.

I still need to find a filter, and we can get crackin on a 4" upper intake setup. Then, swap gas, and tune dis bish! Donations to get THAT done before dyno day are gladly accepted

Ok, just don't set it up so water can run in there and pool and just sit on open wires/fuses. I hope you saw what happened to my evo, and that's in a stock location

Re: Swifty's never-ending project thread!

Yea, i was the one saying i'd crimp those for ya? lol The metal cover should fit firther around the fuse box, and then John is gonna figure out how to hold it in place.

Later this week, I may start to tackle the driver's side wiring, and move the ALT relocate wires, wideband and etc through the inner fender, and have it come out where that little rubber grommet is for the stock ac stuff.

Re: Swifty's never-ending project thread!

I didn't noticed you moved the fuse box. Did you put it in the stock sidemount location? That's where mine is and it's upside down. All I did was wrap the bottom (now top) with electrical tape. I should probably make a plate for it like you.

Re: Swifty's never-ending project thread!

well, I've decided to sell the QTP setup, as it won't really yield me THAT much, and I could use the money towards something better like...tuning.

I'm waiting on TiAl to get the other spring for my wastegate (dual spring setup) then they can ship it out, and I'll have it next week.
