Re: Anybody got a spare 3575 or bigger laying around?

Just fix the turbo and go pump gas/E85 with it, c16 for the track days. And just enjoy driving the thing. Your car should get close or into the 9's on c16.

Scheides, last I checked (at the shootout) he HAS rear seats, and all the panels, carpet, interior. It doesn't start the smoothest, but that's also his cal file and the gas he was using (I believe). if anything ol' man hill is getting tired of climbing over that roll bar to get into his "uncomfortable" seat he has for it.

Re: Anybody got a spare 3575 or bigger laying around?

I did have Shane tune it, and it ran great. But somehow it's gone really lean and I can't even get into the AEM software to see what's going on. I'm tired of the constant tuning, upright seating position, battery replacement and now the blown turbo. Shane hit it right on the head. I want a nice comfortable daily driver even though I wouldn't use it for that, I just want to turn the key and not have to work on it all the time. I also want the $10-$15K in parts I can sell and still make it a really nice street car. And something I've thought of for a while which ties in nicely here. I want the engine bay to look almost completely stock, at least to non-dsm'r, but still have ~300-350 whp on pump gas or maybe E85, which would be a whole lot of fun to drive without needing slicks and laptops and such. Basically what I'd do if I started with a nice virgin car and only had a couple of grand to spend.

I won't be rethinking this, I've parked the car and forgot about it more times than I can remember, this was the last straw. I'm too busy to worry about my car all the time. I'll put up the parts list as soon as I get back.

Steve, if any of the EPROM chips I have will work with your next setup, you can have them. I've dinked around with taking so damn long to get down there, so I'd be glad to give them to you if either of them will work for you.
Just look at my sig and click.

I also have a poop ton of parts off my car, 2g exhaust mani., 2g o2 housing, etc. that you can have for dirt cheap. I owe you.

At least put a Green on it if you are thinking 16-18-20g. They can be found pretty cheaply used.

Damn it, before long I am going to be the old guy around here! You better not leave Vicious!

I can definitely see where you are coming from Steve, I am in the same situation. I worked on the tune in my car quite a bit and got the car to start good. I am going to be in the same quest, to get the car more streetable. I think you could do it with your current setup, just leave the car with Shane longer and have him tune it at different temperatures. I did have the same problem with my car after he tuned the AEM too, it wouldn't hold the tune. I am not sure what the deal is.

Re: Anybody got a spare 3575 or bigger laying around?

Odd, I thought the EMS was supposed to be the ultimate ECU. Why is it going out of tune? With all of the sensors it uses to control fuel and spark I would think this shouldn't be an issue.

Oh, and I'm not going anywhere soon, so you want-a-be o.g.'s are safe for now.

Re: Anybody got a spare 3575 or bigger laying around?

MAS/MAF setups are way more consistant. If there aren't any boost leaks, they read the true amount of air going into the motor. Speed density setups just read pressure and don't car about airflow. Most OEMs use MAFs because they compensate well for different weather conditions/loads and can compensate for actual mechanical changes in the car.

Unless you like to mess with things a lot or have some insane setup that needs some of the stuff only an AEM could do then, then you are probably better off running DSMLink or an EPROM ECU. The AEM isn't going to give more power, if anything, you might have to go more conservative on the tune than you would with a stock ECU and make less power.

Re: Anybody got a spare 3575 or bigger laying around?

I was gonna say something to same sort, get dsmlink and enjoy your ride and not all these issues about tuning.
Get a turbo that isn't known for dying at levels at which you wish to push it too and enjoy the sweetest DSM around.
Its a beautiful car.

Re: Anybody got a spare 3575 or bigger laying around?

I agree. Throw a 3065 and a DSMLINK on there. tune it on E85, and leave the laptop at home. Ive been driveing my SCM-61 on E85 to work almost everyday this summer with no problems.

Re: Anybody got a spare 3575 or bigger laying around?

Extreme, I'll take you up on some of those parts, we'll work the numbers when you make it over.

I've thought about different turbos, but since I'm going weak sauce, I thought it'd be fun to make it look bone stock under the hood. A little something I picked up from the stock appearing drags the musclecar guys like. Basically something like a Hemi Dart clone that looks bone stock, has a 511 big block under stock valve covers and air cleaner, and runs 10's on stock size bias ply tires. A rough variation on this theme translated over to DSM's, but I'm keeping my Volks and Koni's.

Sounds like a decent plan man. I'll have a few parts possibly as well when I upgrade this winter. Good luck with it!

Sleeper 16g ftw! I loved my little sleeper! The only problem is the need for a FMIC. That right there kills the stocker look.

Time for an evo I guess :P

I bet a thick SMIC like what swanny used to have on his stealth would work for one of those.

I have a Toyota Aristo sidemount in my basement. It looks like a supra sidemount but it has metal endtanks (instead of plastic). As far as sidemounts go, its huge. Somebody should buy it off me!
