Magnus/power products thr body?

What do most people do for the tps sensor when you use a new power products 86-93 mustang throttle body? Do you rig the stock sensor in the throttle body or can you splice some wires and tap in the one the throttle body comes with???

Re: Magnus/power products thr body?

Most people don't use a different throttle body, unless they are making over 600whp. It is easy to setup stuff like that with the AEM EMS though.

Re: Magnus/power products thr body?

You just splice the wires into the Ford TPS that comes with the TB. I've got the diagram around here somewhere, or can just go look at my car for the colors.

Re: Magnus/power products thr body?

The output voltage might not match the volts of a stock DSM TPS. That can be a problem with the stock ECU.

Re: Magnus/power products thr body?

That's true. I just programmed it in the EMS, might be tougher with a stock ECU. I think it's the same 0-5V scale though.

Re: Magnus/power products thr body?

what if the tps sensor thats in the stang throttle body goes from 0-5v, wouldn't it work?

A little signal conditioning and any voltage issues you may run in to could be easily taken care of.

Re: Magnus/power products thr body?

I welded on the DSM cable receiver onto the PP shaft and used a Lokar universal cable. You also need to put a bolt and nut on the TB for a throttle stop. Adjust it so the blade is all the way open.

Re: Magnus/power products thr body?

Most TPS sensors are 0-5v units, but exactly what range they use in there is often very different from one kind of car to another. The TPS sensors on DSMs are adjustable and should be recalibrated whenever touched. The stock ECU uses the throttle position to help tell it when to go into idle mode and when to go from closed loop to open loop fueling.

Re: Magnus/power products thr body?

Actually the 1G's have a specific idle switch, the TPS isn't used for that.

The Ford TPS is also adjustable. If you adjust it the same way using a datalogger or something, I'd bet it'd work. You'd have to incorporate the stock idle switch though.

Re: Magnus/power products thr body?

You can also simulate the idle switch and make adjustments to the TPS in dsm link.
