Help getting tranny in

I just installed a new clutch and am trying to get the tranny in. I've got it supported up and am trying to get it to align on the 2 posts for the bottom bolts, but can't seem to get it to slide on. I've been cranking it bit by bit from the driver's side wheel well and trying over and over, but it still won't budge.

I'm going to get my brother to crank it slowly while I try (he's not here yet). Other than that, am I missing anything?

Any help is appreciated. I've been holding this thing up for 2 hours and I'm fucking exhausted!

Re: Help getting tranny in

I never had any problems putting mine in. It was definitely nice to have a person on top guiding it in while I muscled it around from the bottom.

Just make sure the dowel pins are in and lining up with the holes.

Sometimes it helps to turn the crank pulley a bit to get it to line up. Then just align the dowel pins and it should slide right on. If you are strong enough its easiest to put the tranny on your chest and put it up in the car yourself. Thats how I do it and it works better than using a jack in my opinion.

If this is a 1g I found that an engine hoist/cherry picker helps out alot. If you have one at your disposal it will help to suspend the tranny up while you align it.

this might be really obvious, but you used an alignment tool in the disk right? otherwise i havent had any problems putting any of them in either

Re: Help getting tranny in

LOL, I found the problem. The reverse light cable got wedged between the tranny and the block at the top. Now it's in two pieces

I was underneath lifting it up, but got smart after a while and ran a rope from the rafters down to help support the tranny.

And yes, I did use an alignment tool.

I have another question though. Does anyone know the sizes of the two bolts that hold the driver's side axel brace (the part half way between the tranny and the hub). Hopefully I will find them in the light, but was having trouble just now and may need to replace them.
