carbon fiber hatch ?

So not that its needed. But one happened to come up for same close to me and I have a few questions.

Mainly what is a good price for one , uninstalled with out glass?

If I go check it out what should I be looking for to let me know its a good one, etc.

Also has anyone ran one? what would you recommend as far as glass to run? And how much can I expect to be looking at as far as price for types of glass?

Re: carbon fiber hatch ?

Was the brand stated? I'm not very up to date on them but there are only about what? 3-4 people that produce them..? Would help you find a new price to go off of.

Re: carbon fiber hatch ?

I'd just figure out the brand them reference pictures of it's condition. As I said; I am no expert but I am positive there are plenty of people on here that have some experience with them.

Re: carbon fiber hatch ?

Owner just got back to me.

Its I vis racing hatch. And since hes getting out of dsm's he said he'd throw in the carbon fiber windshield wiper cover as well. (One pictured above)

The vis carbon fiber hood that I posted a while back thats been for sale in the next town over from cmp. Is still for sale too. But his latest pictures make me think I'd rather paint it then leave it, clearly been sitting out in the sun, the clear coat on it looks horrible and there's a stupid transformers sticker that I'd have to get off also.
But might be a consideration for under $100.

Re: carbon fiber hatch ?

I never considered the CF hatch too much if you turn corners. The rear end is already light as hell if you have removed other lightening stuff. Take everything you can out of the front.

Re: carbon fiber hatch ?

I paid around 700 with my a FAL speed glass, new/used. Cornfed just couldn't get the speed glass done but I have a buddy who does automotive glass and he has the right tools to get it mounted I had to have the lexan trimmed and fitted to the hatch. I have heard stories that stock glass doesn't always fit right and
Lexan is required. Be nice if he let u mount it on yours and see how well the lines look and to make sure it latches, Also speed glass changes the bracket u will race in.

Just get it re-cleared, it'll be as good as new.

Re: carbon fiber hatch ?

I don't know why you'd get a CF hatch and not put lexan in it. I imagine a huge chunk of the weight savings would be in the glass alone, not just the hatch.

If the original gel coat is fading/peeling, you'll probably have to sand it off and do a normal clear and wet sand it for it to look nice. Make sure to wear a mask because you don't want that CF dust in your lungs.

The hatch looks brand new. And I was thinking lexan myself. I dont need the hatch, but anything is a potential if its for sale cheap enough (always looking for deals)

The hood is what needs the work. And a lot of it by the look of the pictures.
Just think the extra ventilation would help in a road race application otherwise id skip it.
