Re: Over revving issue

Well I had to stop by MAP to pick up a new T3 gasket, and lil brown had an extra bolt on hand, so I just grabbed it since I was already there. So I'm not going to need yours Scheides. Thanks for offering though, I'll grab it in a couple months when it breaks again and I lose another one

Re: Over revving issue

Well, got the last cam bolt on and torqued. Put the VC back on. Put the spark plugs in and plug wires, mounted the coil pack and got it plugged in. Going to leave the Arc-2 disconnected for a little while until the car is running ok on it's own. Just don't want to do too many things at once.

Got that T3 gasket from MAP so put the turbo/manifold together. I ripped off all the wrap because it was all coming apart. It's like the heat wrap couldn't take the heat. It all literally just fell off the manifold as I started removing it. Lame. But I did it because I was having my overheating issues, and the new FMIC seemed to cure it mostly so I guess I don't need it anyway.

I've been having issues with the stupid turbo bolts constantly backing out. I think I have finally fixed that issue, see the pictures below

If I'm not mistaken that safety wire is an old military trick right?

Re: Over revving issue

Yeah the military is where I originally learned to do it. It's pretty common practice in the air wing. Also in the nuclear field, we have to safety wire or loctite everything that will ever travel anywhere near the core. So I've done my fair share of safety wiring for the past 7 years. It's now just finally found it's way onto my car

Re: Over revving issue

Chris from Dogbox called me today. Said he got the busted axle out, and found nothing else wrong with the tranny. He's going to swap in a known good VC just for good measure, and said he'll be shipping it back in the next day or 2.

And it shipped out today I'm gone for the next 2 weeks, but hoping to be able to come home for the weekend, so I can slap this thing in and have her back out on the road.

Re: Over revving issue

Tranny is back. Installed the clutch and torqued the PP bolts to 14lb. I have the tranny up and somewhat in place, and held in with 2 bolts right now but it's not fully in. The splines aren't through the clutch disk, trying to get that fucker lined up, kind of a PITA to do by yourself.

Anyone out there crazy enough to want to come by and help me get this thing together today? Call me, I'll be in the garage cusing at the car.

I get off work at 6:30 today, if by some poor chance you are still cursing at it, give me a call and I'll stop on over.

I hope you have it done by then!

Re: Over revving issue

Tranny is in. Sucks doing it alone, especially if your a weak somabitch like me.

I'll give ya a call later Swanny. I'm sure I'll still be buttoning things up because I work at a slow pace.

I hope your aren't looking for an hourly wage. Although I would buy us pizza, chinese delivery, beer, pop, you know the basic tools to get the job done

Re: Over revving issue

Car is completely back together, including the door panels and what not that had to come off because of the door lock change. Car started up great, but was making a clicking sound that had me scared. Pulled the VC off and everything looked fine. I was getting worried. Started the car again and then layed under the car to see that I never tightened the Alt & P/S belts, and they were all loose and flapping. Tightened them up, set the timing to 5* and she's idling at 1000rpm like a champ!!! Took me awhile working by myself, but I got her done. I'm done for the night. Tomorrow I plan on driving it around and making sure it drives decent, and then give her a nice hand wash since it's covered in finger prints.
