Why Can't I Launch Well?
I don't know if this is the place for this but, please help me figure out why I can't launch my 1G AWD well.
With my last 1G AWD, like 250hp(lol) stock suspension, ACT2600 street, 225/45/17 KDWs. I'd rev up to like 6k rpm, and dump/slip the clutch. Spin 4 tires and haul.
Curent car: A LOT more power, DSMLink, Ksport coilovers, 225/45/17 KDWs, ACT2600 w/6puck. I hit the launch control, and then slip/dump clutch. and then No Lift To Shift. I think when I slip the clutch I'm taking my foot off the gas which is messing up the NLTS function. Make sense? So then I hit the NLTS rev limit in 1st gear. Its effed up. Oh and I can't spin my tires at all. Wtf? It just doesn't happen. I know that sounds ricery, but...
bets 60ft was 1.7 but I mostly have like 1.9s and 1.8s and 2.0s lol
I'm probably a shitty driver.

Re: Why Can't I Launch Well?
What boost are you leaving at before vs. now?

Re: Why Can't I Launch Well?
Aren't bigger turbos a lot harder to launch correctly? It could be you just have to relearn on this setup.

Re: Why Can't I Launch Well?
Yeah you just need some more practice. More power is a lot harder to handle when launching. Eventually you'll figure out the sweet spot.

Re: Why Can't I Launch Well?
I'm sure you had a lot more boost built up at launch before, and thus more torque when you dumped the clutch? Just practice a bunch of different things and you'll be good.

Re: Why Can't I Launch Well?
If you had a 14B or 16G before, then that might be why. It's way easier to launch a small turbo car.

Re: Why Can't I Launch Well?
He had a 20G on it before. And Ive been in the car on a launch and it was crazy. with his current set up it honestly feels like hes just pulling away from a stop sign. Somethings not right.

How much boost are you building at the line? I take it you have the anti lag enabled?
Are you bogging on the launch or does it not feel as strong?

Re: Why Can't I Launch Well?
A 20G is a small turbo though too, they spool great compared to a what he has. Maybe he needs to launch at a higher RPM. A big turbo isn't going to be spooled until past 6000 RPMs in first gear. The dump the clutch and spin the tires stuff doesn't work so good with bigger power cars. If you do spin them, it will probably instantly goto revlimiter and screw you that way.

Re: Why Can't I Launch Well?
Yea the bigger turbo prob makes the difference. My shitty 16g talon had almost the same 60fts as you, it would rip (kinda) off a launch, then the rest of the ride was rather mundane. I'll have to re-learn how to drive my car this summer with the scm61 on there. Practice makes perfect kevin lol.

Re: Why Can't I Launch Well?
Sounds like you're dumping it a little too much, at least to me. Does it feel like it bog really bad and then takes off? Maybe upping the launch rpm and trying to slip the clutch more will do the trick.
Practice does make perfect though, hell I suck at launching too. haha

Re: Why Can't I Launch Well?
does it pull like when I gave you and mike a ride when I launched my eclipse? I have my launch set at 6250 and just slip the clutch a little more.

Re: Why Can't I Launch Well?
I used to spin through first with both the HTA88 and 40R and I was at similar power but lots more torque. Have you tried launching without the NLTS

Re: Why Can't I Launch Well?
I can launch great just holding the RPMs at 4 grand, but if I use a 2-step rev limiter, I can't do crap no matter what, even at a much higher RPM.

Re: Why Can't I Launch Well?
is it building boost before you launch? If not then it needs more... more rpm or more build time I would guess.
