Cool Thinking about Rotas - Offset Suggestion?

Hey guys I'm looking at getting some 17" (ideally 8" wide, run a 245!) Rotas. I have Ksport coilovers currently. I am looking for black wheels, but if not available I pay to have them powdercoated.

I am liking the Rota Boost and Grids (TE37 knockoffs).

GRIDS I see only 17x7.5 with 45mm or 48 mm offset. Is that too much? Like, it would be way behind my fender lip?

Boost I see
17x8 35mm or 48mm. Is the 35mm gonna stick out A LOT?
17x7.5 45mm

1. What offset above will work best?
2. I shouldn't have tire issues with 17x8 with a 245 since I have coilovers right? maybe a little clearancing on the rear lower control arms.
3. If you can think of a cool wheel please suggest it!! aka blk rpfo1?

THANKS!!!!

Re: Thinking about Rotas - Offset Suggestion?

I've been doing some wheel/tire/suspension research myself and came across this guy on talk. 17x9 +45 on 255/40/17. On the rear he's running spacers to bump the offset to +37. He's running spacers up front too, but it doesn't say the size. I think that's about the perfect fitment.

FYI, he's on GC coilovers and Koni Yellows.

Re: Thinking about Rotas - Offset Suggestion?

That car was the inspiration for me going to 17x9's as well. My backs fit perfect with a 28mm offset and shortened lower control arms, my fronts stick out quite a bit. I need to figure that one out this spring.

Re: Thinking about Rotas - Offset Suggestion?

Keep this thread updated as good info is found please . I've been considering a bump up in size(width mostly) as well and would like to see what sizes/offsets/spacer combo's etc are best for a 1g awd.

Re: Thinking about Rotas - Offset Suggestion?

I personally do not want to run a spacer, but I guess if needed... boo hiss.

Chris, lets borrow one wheel (or two) and just check fitment on my car while the tranny is out!

Re: Thinking about Rotas - Offset Suggestion?

Anyone got better wheel suggestions. I'd like a relatively cheaper wheel as the roads here do suck a lot.

Re: Thinking about Rotas - Offset Suggestion?

I have 17x8, +35 offset on mine. I had it on my 1G and my 2G. 235/45-17.

Too bad when you came over the vehicle was on jacks, otherwise it would've been a perfect example.

Did you have rubbing problems with the P235/45R17's? I have the same size but they are very bald.. So with new tread I was thinking that they might be a problem.. I was gonna go P235/40R17's to be safe. I will go with the 235/45R17's if you didnt have any problems with it.

Re: Thinking about Rotas - Offset Suggestion?

I ran a 235/45/17 on a 17x8 +35mm on my DSM and I thought it looked really good. the rears were tucked in just a little, and the fronts stuck out about a half inch. With about a 5mm spacer the rears would have sat flush. No need to clearance the rear control arm either. My winter wheels are 1st gen 3/s VR4 wheels, and with those I needed to grind a little bit off the flange of the rear control arm since they're +40mm offset. Same size tires as the summers, and the fronts sat flush with the top edge of the fender.

Re: Thinking about Rotas - Offset Suggestion?

I've been running 235/40-17's for years on my Rota Sub Zero's(I think 7.5 wide?), no issues. But I'd like to step the wheel width to 8.5 or 9" and do 255's. If there is any good info about something like this, any links would be great.

Re: Thinking about Rotas - Offset Suggestion?

I'm running 235-45-17's on 17x8 Rotas with 35mm offset. My car is also lowered on Eibach Sportlines. I'm having a problem with the fronts rubbin my fenders. Plenty of people on here have seen the damage to my tires. I need to roll my fenders, and I think that will help take care of that issue.

Yeah I saw your tires. All you need is a wooden baseball bat and massage the fender outwards. I would have done it asap before it did anymore damage though!
