Just fitted 1fast14b's cold air intake and am wondering if we should install some type of AEM bypass valve or something for wet weather. The filter is sitting where the stock sidemount does in the pass fender and the filter is facing forward. Would it need to suck in alot of water to hydrolock? Should I worry about it sucking in alot of water? Should I try to make a plate we can slide in for wet weather?

Motorcycle cop pulls up next to me on UNI and says "Want to race?"
Me- "I don't think you would stand a chance."
Cop says "probably not" and drives off.

Step 1, don't drive through huge water puddles.
Step 2, repeat step 1. :smoker:

Yeah, we may cut a slit in the bottom of the bumper to slide some plexiglass in there for worse weather.

If you want I have templates made up to cover the botto0m of the stock IC. I use it to funnel air in from the front bumper. It would work well as a splash gaurd, maybe drill some holes or put a plate with slot to let water out if it did get picked up. I use circle track plastic. It is super tough, easy to fab and cheap.

Let me know.

I've been driving around for 4 years with my intake that way, no problems.

Well, except the one time I drove through a deep puddle in St Louis Park. The motor immediately quit, I realized what I'd done and left it til the next day. Next day I towed it home, pulled the plugs and turned the motor over blowing out all the water. I also pulled off the FMIC and anything else the water could get trapped in and cleaned it all out. Put a bit of oil in each spark plug hole and started her up. Drove it for another 10K miles like that, no problems. :uh:
