Re: what turbo to get??

You want my Super 16G trust me.

But seriously, if you want a turbo that will perform much like an EVO III with a little bit better topend power my Hahn super 16g would be the turbo to get. It won't put out quite the same power as your V-trim did, but they are much better turbos.

It comes with an adapter plate so the turbo will bolt up to your FP manifold, and comes with the O2 housing as well.

The only thing you may need is a manifold spacer plate so it will clear the block and water pipe.

Re: what turbo to get??

Forced Performance 16g, intended to run from 18-26 psi (doesn't mean you can't go higher).

Cost about twice as much as an MHI EVO III 16g but then again its 10 lbs of shit in a 5 lb bag.

Re: what turbo to get??

A 16G isn't going to put down 400awhp on my dyno without nitrous.

Re: what turbo to get??

The evo3 is poplular. It's for sure a solid choice in a street car. Mine certainly has put a smile on my face many times. Not sure bout the Hp # as I havent dynoed it, but it makes me happy. Take the advice ^ for sure though, he knows whats up.

I guess if your after higher numbers maybe step it up to 18g or a td06 20g. Those should get you up to the numbers your after, without being too expensive. Otherwise step it up to a ball bearing turbo like a scm50-60. Those will definitly put you in that range and above.

Re: what turbo to get??

I guess it's possible that a 16G car might, but it isn't likely. A handfull have gotten into the 350s-380s range, but I haven't had one hit 400 yet. Most put down in the 320-360 range on E85.

A 50-trim can hit 400awhp. 61s usually make over 400.

You usually run a wet nitrous kit on a turbo car. You can use a purely dry kit if you have a more advanced engine management system like an AEM EMS that can control the nitrous and add fuel through the injectors. You need to have enough octane to support boost and nitrous though, both use up octane. C3L1CA on here is running over 30psi and spraying nitrous on a stock internal motor with the help of E85.

If you don't have to make 400awhp though, the Evo 3 16G will give the best spoolup vs HP out of any turbo I know.

Re: what turbo to get??

50/60 trim. I had a B16g about 8 years ago and got tired/accostomed to the power quite quickly. When I threw the 50 then 60 trim on, I was good for a bit longer.

I am sure some of the local 16g cars are fun but I think a little bit of lag is also fun. I would try to get a ride in a 16g car, then a bigger turbo car and see what you like better. Daily driving is also a different experience.

Re: what turbo to get??

^very true. I guess if its gonna be a dd maybe the 16g would be a better bet. If its a weekend warrior then go for broke.

Me personally (not that anyone cares), I like to do corners too, so a little less lag is good for that.

I do have to agree though, with a bigger turbo, the lag is pretty fun. Its kind of a tease, it makes you think, wow-this thing is kinda a pooch...then it builds boost and it pushes you back into the seat. Makes me feel like the power sort of snuck up on me or something.

Re: what turbo to get??

^^^ Actually I liked the lag on a DD. Didn't have the turbo spooling all day long just before I shift.
