Opinions on a head gasket.

My immediate choices are between a Mitsu Composite, and a Mitsu Multi layer. I've heard good things about the composite gaskets with ARP's, so I was considering that. And I know the Multi layer is capable of holding more boost, but you need to have perfect sealing surfaces on the head and block.

So my question is which would you reccomend, and why?

Cometic... because thats what I have... I had the Mitsu MLS (multi layer steel) on my 6bolt, and I never popped it while running some serious boost... if you use the MLS, make sure you use anarobic sealant on the gasket... It makes the seal better...

Re: Opinions on a head gasket.

Don't get a cometic, especially the mls, they are junk. The HP is alright.

Anyway, we need some more info. How much boost are you running, what HP are you going for and what turbo is it?

More than likely you will be fine with just a stock gasket. I have run the cometic mls, hp and stock. I am now back to the stock gasket (with copper spray) and haven't had any problems at 32 psi on a good sized turbo. After the stock gasket I would go to the Felpro mls gasket, it is the new hotness.

He's currently running ~20psi on a 3076 pushing about 300whp. Kevin, I say just go with a stock gasket!

Re: Opinions on a head gasket.

I think we torqued the ARP's to 90 or 95. I'm not sure.

Re: Opinions on a head gasket.

Stock HG with ARP's torqued to a hundo with moly lube. Copper spray both sides first and call it good.

Re: Opinions on a head gasket.

Ask Shane what he uses instead of copper spray...he mentioned something a few days ago while ranting in Brownman's thread.
