RIPP 4G SDS Stage 2
RIPP is working on their Stage 2 Supercharger and they put up a video here on 8psi... making some pretty damn good power on 8psi and stock internals (I think).

Nice! Just need AWD then. Any word on longevity of the stock internals yet?

Not bad power at all for only 8 psi

I still don't think anyone has even taken the motor out of the car yet. They are basically just now doing these tests on the stage 2, so there is almost nothing for proof of longevity yet.
Stage 1 which runs like 4psi has been on some cars for a good 6 months... but i've hardly seen any dyno results and 0 track results from the 20 or so people who have it. 4G scene is pretty slow going so far.
Thus is the life of a stock NA motor I guess.

Re: RIPP 4G SDS Stage 2
I'd really love to see what the potential of the 4G is. It has great styling and saved us from the 3G. Hope to see more soon.

I'll try and update this forum with all the 4G info I can! Maybe I should start a thread or something... hmm.

ill just say this, coming from a 8G (my body style) galant owner. they came out in 99, and there was NO aftermarket support until mid to late 01.
now we have guys with the mostly stock i4s boosted pushing 250+, evo swaps pushing 300+, supercharged v6s pushing 400.
give it time, it'll happen.

Re: RIPP 4G SDS Stage 2
evo swaps = 300? who cares, its an evo motor thats where it should be.
It looks like with time some people will turn everything into a sports car.

no shit? really? :P
considering those people who bought the car and stock hp to the wheels is 110-120, a swap to 300 hp in a galant isnt too bad in my opinion.

i guess i should apologize for everyone (imports, domestics, cars, trucks, vans, even little turboed scooters) who didnt buy a DSM and wants to make their car put down more power than it came with.

What kind of attitude is that? My galant came with a 4G64, so does that mean it doesn't belong under the hood of a DSM? There are some parts that are interchangable between our motors, and I don't see any harm in that. Not everyone wants the same thing, so to each their own when it comes to picking their platform.

Re: RIPP 4G SDS Stage 2
Hahaha! Love the comments boys.
I'm digging that setup Tim! 300+whp on the stage 1, 400whp on stage 2, these are impressive numbers, especially on dyno dynamics! Even if they fudged the numbers a bit (not saying they did) it would still be an impressive amount of power for each stage. How much are these kits?
Tim, your car put down what, ~235whp on the current mods you have? 300whp is really not that far off with forced induction, I mean you have a freaking 3.8L motor under the hood!

Re: RIPP 4G SDS Stage 2
Well I went ahead and found it because I know how to use teh google.
The only thing I do not like about the kit is what it expects of the upper radiator hose.
Fine it snakes over the pulley shaft, but does it have to also go right over that mounting bracket? That is just asking for trouble somewhere down the line IMHO.
Looks like a solid kit though, well thought out, nice and simple:
Order it up! I'm sure we can bolt it on in my garage this saturday!
It's interresting how they went about dealing with tuning and needing more fuel.
Adds 1300cc's of fuel....why wouldn't they just include bigger injectors for the stock fuel rail(s)? Also, I don't see this item on the picture above w/ the S/C kit installed, but it is supposedly included?

edit - lol @ ultimate race car!

Re: RIPP 4G SDS Stage 2
Yup, and with the warranty it comes with you would be in good shape!
With FWD wheel-spin would become an issue, but the car would be a crapload of fun, especially on the freeway!

Re: RIPP 4G SDS Stage 2
Christ you guys are gonna run my bank account into the ground telling me you wouldn't mind helping me install it.
The stage 1 kit is $3800. It's dyno'd for some people in the 330 range, but the 1 guy I actually get to talk to on the forum has his tuned conservatively to 311whp.
Stage 2 isn't available yet, i'm also a little wearing because nobody knows exactly how much power our pistons can handle or how long they can withstand the 8psi stage 2 setup.
I think last time I was hangin with you guys I mentioned I am getting more tempted by the day by this kit, but I guess i'm still pretty cold feet on it. I'll keep thinking on it, and it would probably be well into next year before I could afford it + have some money around in case something goes wrong.
" Order it up! I'm sure we can bolt it on in my garage this saturday! "
Keep sayin stuff like that though and I just might.

I agree, for value it's probably a better move, and I don't have to worry about trying to find a way to put in an FMIC or anything. Turbo obviously giving me ultimately more power and better traction due to spool time, but I don't really plan on pushing my car THAT hard, I want to see other people do it first so i'm not the guy blowing his shit up testing stuff. So with stage 2 available i'd be comfortable with a conservative tune... and maybe even future EVO drive train swap like Mark always taunts me about, if I REALLY wanted to make it a performer.
I'd sure as hell show the SRT kids whats up.
EDIT: Also... if I had to guess at a price I would say minimum 5000ish for the Stage 2. Unless they price drop the Stage 1 a bunch and then price the Stage 2 accordingly. Thats also retail on their website, I don't know if they budge on pricing or not.

Sorry I hate to triple post like a noob but RIPP just made a post on the C4G forums and I thought it was worth reposting here...

I'm willing to bet boyo didn't have enough money to drop in to properly build. But yeah - to Tim's point, the stock heads are gold. Imagine how much more if they were opened up properly.

Actually from the tune side of things all looks well, we’ve been testing a stage 2 car set at 387whp since February with no reported problems at all. In fact it never even needed a re-tune. When we put current kits out we make sure all is safe in terms of tune. This car turned perfect EGT’s never coming close to 1200 and the knock sensor never even came close to triggering even after the wickest of beating, I remind you these are dual piazo digital sensors, you can sneeze and they could trigger.
As you can see from the DYNO sheets the Air fuel are always in a safe zone in both hot and cold pass’s. In our opinion based on what we seen, the 4G’s engine is so much stronger than the 3G it isn’t even funny. One sure way is we spin the blower 13000rpm slower to make 8psi. In fact we tuned with a 3G yesterday in stage 3 form (engine build, larger crank pulley smaller SDS pulley and tensioner required…not to mention labor) at 17psi made 380whp…think about it!
Secondly, given the size of the engine 8spi is like stage 1 anyway, the cylinder pressure isn’t anywhere near a smaller displacement engine. Add the methanol from our boost cooler and detonation can nearly be forgotten.

They sound very comfortable with the way the engine is holding up... fuccccccccccckkkkkkk meeeeee i'm excited!!
