maf translator

well i installed my new maf translator and gm maf in blow thru set up in my 90 talon today,
i zeroed out everything and started my car up, it idled super high so i turned down the idle alll the way but it was still at 1.5-2k rpms so i turned the base map knob one click lean and it started idling perfect, only prob is im scared that is lean now since i dont have a wideband YET to fix this issue i turned the mid and high one click rich and it runs great and fast no fuel cut, im just wondering what you guys think, if im safe or not, and people have tuned by looking at timing and knock, can anyone tell me what good timing is and how much knock is ok... thanks in advance

Why don't you have a datalogger yet? Or do you and you're not using it?

Re: maf translator

I went too order a battery for my laptop and they was 90 freaking dollars! Soo maybe i will look for a palm lol, and do the idle speed screws go bad? I think mine might be because it's turned all the way down and it's at 1k-900 rpm idle little too high for my liking

Re: maf translator

The rubber o-ring seal could be old, cracked, and leaking. I've pulled some out of 1G's that just crumble apart in my hand they're so old and brittle.

Re: maf translator

If it's driving fine right now, I wouldn't do anything until you can check the tuning on it. And don't boost it until you do.

Re: maf translator

yeah, the trick is too boost leak test it, then it will blow it right out of there when you unscrew it. when it comes to knock on the logger, a low number is good, 0-2 is considered ideal, if your getting more than 2 your running too much something, (timing/boost/too lean).
