Hey what would you use to port it, carbide bits, grinding stones, sanding rolls? Could you use Carbide bits with a dremel? Or would something like that be better suited to an air-powered grinder?

Re: How to make a Quick 14B Car?

After just finishing a porting job myself, GET A DAMN CARBIDE BIT!!!! I did a stock 1g mani and wish i hadn't been cheap. I got the carbide bit on the last night of porting. Cut the time in half, easy. Use the carbide to take out larger pieces of the metal and get the areas ground down, then use a stone to smoth them out. Follow up with some sand paper to get it nice and smooth and your all set.

Re: How to make a Quick 14B Car?

I know you can get a set of 3 of them from Sears for about $30 bucks, i opted out and got a single bit for $6 due to the lack of ever needing htem again, and being broke.

Harbor Freight or similar is the best place to get them. Sears does have them but they arent cheap and they are the same quality.

Re: How to make a Quick 14B Car?

I have a 3" gm maf, and maft. I'm still worried about fuel cut. What are my options? get DSMLink and STFU? A lot of people have been suggesting I go with a 2G MAF. I know some people say the MAFT is a POS, and would rather have a 2G mas. What are your opinions on the 2G MAF vs 3" GM/MAFt?

Re: How to make a Quick 14B Car?

i've never hit fuel cut with the maft. isnt one of the switches in the control box a fuel cut toggle? its been awhile since i opened it up.

a 2g maf is fine as long as your power goals are in the low-mid 400s.

Funny you say that.

Do you feel right tuning and setting AEM up all on your own? Or, since you know people that can help you, you feel right recommending it?

Dont get me wrong, AEM is obvioulsy the way to go if you have either A. Have the knowledge to do it, or B. Have the money to make it happen with the help of someone like Shane or Josh or whoever that has worked with it extensively(sp?)

Re: How to make a Quick 14B Car?

Lol swifty, I know AEM is bomb shit, but I'm not gonna need that for awhile, if ever. Look at Vassil, he ran 10's with DSMLink, so I definately don't see it as a limiting factor. And plus, I'd rather have DSMlink because it's way more user friendly, and I could actually tune it myself, and learn a lot in the process.

DSMLink is almost always the best choice.

Re: How to make a Quick 14B Car?

Yeah, DSMLink is the way to go.

Only thing that really pisses me off about it is you cant use a MAP sensor with it. Gay Gay Gay.

Re: How to make a Quick 14B Car?

You can use a MAP sensor with DSMLink. It has a speed density mode that ignores the MAF and uses a VE table.

My car has been on stands since after the cookout (that same day lol). It was 100% stock then. I'd still like to get an FMIC, a fuel pump, and port/ceramic coat all the cast iron parts.

Re: How to make a Quick 14B Car?

Ya I got some suspension work done too. As well as a lot of preventive maintence. Cause I didn't know if the previous owner did them or not, so just got them done anyways when I bought the car.

Setup looks solid.

Is this your red car? Or did you get another one. I remember you leaving me a message in cardomain, awhile back, saying how you really loved my car cause it was black, or something like that. lol

Re: How to make a Quick 14B Car?

Just to add to this, I am going to run my 14b to the limit
Mods are (well, some assebly is still going on)
Dejon Exaust 2.5" - 3.0"
2g O2 housing
Evo 3 ported exaust manifold

The turbo and the O2 housing are going to get ported on friday!

also have a 255hp fuel pump
AFPR to go with that also

I have the 2g mas, not installed yet because I need:
550cc
S-AFC

and a 4 bolt rear end after I break the 3 bolt!
What are the limits of this little turbo for psi? 16-18?

Was going to try to have it ready by dyno days but with a limited budget i don't think I am going to make it in time. Would be interesting to see what it would make on this little turbo.
