Nt Tranny Gears into AWD Tranny?

I have a 2.0 NT fwd tranny sitting with good gears. My question is could I take the gear set from the fwd tranny since they are much shorter and throw them into the awd case?

I thought I read the answer somewhere but I can't find it at all.
