I usually enjoy wiring but for some reason I was having a huge brain fart on this..

Can anyone justify that this is how the stock wiring for the fan is?

That is the basic idea, again the only issue would be having a switched 12v source to trigger the relay (pin 85 in your diagram) unless you wanted the fans to run with out the ignition on. And your switch would complete the ground circuit for the fan relay and they would turn on no matter what the thermal switch was doing so a simple 2 pin switch would work, or if you get a lighted switch that would be a 3 pin unit.

Yeah I want to be able to turn the fans on at any time. That's why I used 85 going straight to the battery.
