AEM EMS 2 Step Help!!!

I set up my 2 step the other day. This is what I have it set at.
Level 5(medium cut)
2Step Input- Switch is Always ON
2Step Fuel Cut- 4500 RPM
2Step Ignition Cut- 4500 RPM
2Step OK Below VSS- 9 MPH
2Step Retard Rev- 12000 RPM

When I go to 2step it it bounces from like 2500-3500.
I really dont know how to do this I just read a little and did what the manual said. Help would be great!

Dosen't AEM have a forum? Most of us on here can barely afford to put gas in our dsm's and you come on here asking questions about premium parts. Must be nice eating steak and lobster everynight.

Re: AEM EMS 2 Step Help!!!

Try turning the two step input to "off". I think the 2G switch is the opposite of the 1G, and I'm pretty sure that's what my 1G setting was.

I had steak and shrimp yesterday at Ghettohana, pretty good stuff.

Re: AEM EMS 2 Step Help!!!

also, have your fuel cut higher then the ignition cut..if i remember correctly, my ignition cut is at 5700 rpm, fuel cut at like 7000rpm. I forget why you do this, perhaps shane can chime in. I just used montgomery's settings as a base...seemed to work well the 2 times I launched it last year.

Probably so you don't detonate.

Re: AEM EMS 2 Step Help!!!

Exactly... Its better to cut off spark first that fuel so you dont run lean.

http://forum.aempower.com/forum/index.php

Thats the AEM website if anyone cares. But the tech help on there kinda sucks. Better off here for help anyways.

I'd have to look at my settings to see what they are which is on the laptop at the shop. I'll check them out tomorrow unless Shane chimes in or someone else knows. I cant remember off the top of my head. I know I had to mess with it for awhile to get it right.

Re: AEM EMS 2 Step Help!!!

Alright, Its been awhile but...
I set the ignition cut at 4500 and the fuel cut at 5500. I 2stepped my car and it sits at about 1500 RPM. I held it here for a few seconds and it went up to 3500(ish). I tried to launch the car but it sorta bogged out and didnt launch hard at all. Anyone have any input?

Re: AEM EMS 2 Step Help!!!

What is your Retard Rev RPM set at? Last box on the 2 step wizard...

Also do you have anti-lag setup on?

Re: AEM EMS 2 Step Help!!!

The retard rev is set at 12000. I thought that that number is what you play with to get the antilag function working and if its high then you wont have antilag. Am I wrong?

Re: AEM EMS 2 Step Help!!!

Anti-lag has its own setup table. Go into: Setup -> Advanced Setup -> Anti-Lag...

Make sure the Drag and Rally are both off just to be sure that isnt messing with your 2 step.

Re: AEM EMS 2 Step Help!!!

Change your cut style to a hard cut to keep it from "bouncing" a few hundred rpm.

Re: AEM EMS 2 Step Help!!!

Stock rev limiters cut fuel. But cutting spark before fuel will let unburnt fuel into the header then burn and spool the turbo, normally loud and flames from the tail pipe. Its hard for a motor to detonate when there is no fuel in the cylinder at all, fwiw.
