"Big Brake" Upgrade

1992 Tsi AWD 6bolt

When someone with the single piston, small rotor 1G upgrades to the "factory big brakes," that most likely would mean swapping in the larger rotors and the two piston calipers from, for example, a 1999 GSX. I bought my car with "big brakes" already on it. I need new rotors, but I don't know if they are the stock size. (I want to order the right ones the first time). Thanks!

Re: "Big Brake" Upgrade

You will need the front rotors for a 95-99 car, they're all the same throughout those years.

Re: "Big Brake" Upgrade

Actually....they are the same front rotors for 93-99 AWD. Pads too. Only the caliper is slightly different due to the change in brake line design (banjo bolt versus direct thread in)

Advance Auto carries your rotors for like $35.00 each.

The smaller single piston rotors are the same for 89-92 Turbo and 89-99 NT cars (yes even 2g NTs). They run about $22.00 each.

Re: "Big Brake" Upgrade

Just order the front rotors from a '93 AWD. Autozone seems to have the best brake prices if you're going for cheapies, but you should take this opportunity to get some nice pads and rotors.

I am. Axxis Ultimates and some sort of slotted rotors. I was just curious about the rotor size. I'll order some for a 93-99 AWD.
