Same exact thing without the Baer name $569 brand new. All Ford OEM parts. Just need bracket adapters.

It's been a few years huh? Best price I have seen on that kit for any car is $9xx.

You are talking about this correct?

So what rotor does Baer use? Is it an off the shelf rotor? Or a Baer one?

I think it's basically the '03 Cobra calipers and rotors.

That's the one. I'm sure prices have gone up, but you're still getting a complete package with warranty, instructions, all the brackets and hardware, plus SS lines in one box rather than having to try and source it all separately. Plus the calipers are painted since looks do matter to some.

I'm sure its a quality off-the-shelf rotor (aka not parts store junk) thats slotted, drilled, and zinc-plated (if you want...I got mine just slotted and plated). I know either the 1G or 2G uses a Corvette rotor and the other uses a Mustang Cobra rotor.

Re: 1G DSM big brakes. Need to upgrade bad.

Yeah price for Baer's is $850 from MAP.
I was looking for TKRs thread about evo brembos on a 1g, i looked at some pics of it and the only worry is the part with the two bolt holes so close to each other, but i am sure that he has been running around with them for a while now.

Also with Mark's setup he mentioned something about the coilovers preventing a diff. adapter design. anywho i am interested in it.

Also i rode in scheides car and he hit the brakes and i haven't stopped like that in a long time, what is his setup?

Stock calipers, stock (original) rotors, Ferodo DS2500 pads, SS lines, and Motul600 fluid.

SS lines won't do much on an Evo, but they definitely help on a DSM considering how aged the stock rubber lines are. The Motul600 fluid is overkill for a street car. If you're trying to keep costs down some SS lines, the Valvoline fluid you picked up, quality pads, and some quality rotors would probably impress you with the DSM "big brakes." If you go this route I'd recommend some Brembo blanks or Powerslots and Porterfield R4-S pads.

Re: 1G DSM big brakes. Need to upgrade bad.

Evo Brembos on a DSM would be a wicked setup. Sorry I didn't reply with the specs on my car earlier. I read your post and got a twinkle in my eye thinking about having awesome stopping power 100% at will every day, then promptly stopped reading.

I LOVE my brake setup, the car stopped great stock, but after doing the ferodos and technifit SS lines, it is just giggly-good on the street. The initial bite is breathtaking, and for heavy street use they don't want to fade (multiple 120-40mph hard stops, while doing street tuning or general fun-having ).

The motul600 will probably be replaced by something a little more street friendly as I never track the car. I went with the SS lines because I didn't want to worry about the lines getting stretchy or mushy over time. ALso, I'm not sure if it's the lines or the pads, but the initial pedal feel is spectacular. I haven't driven a car with the same pads and stock lines, so I'm not sure.

Anyways, I'm rambling....The baer track kit is a great bang/buck for DSM's, but I think doing brembos would be what I would do if I had a 1G again. My only concern lies with mark's setup on his evo: his master cyl has trouble pushing enough fluid to make them effective.....will this be an issue on DSM's as well?

Probably. I was wondering this as well, maybe the baer would be the best setup for a 1g. "Puhrot" on here said his Baer's were amazing on his 1G.

Re: 1G DSM big brakes. Need to upgrade bad.

^Puhrot also sold me a sweet "built" tranny that basically had a double synchro second gear and a notchy third built by some hobo not TRE built like he advertised.

I need to talk to mark, he could use my 1g as a mock up if he wanted to/needed.

The only other thing i can think of doing is actually getting a new set of pads/rotors up front the rotors look glazed the pads are old, but they have 50% pad left so thats what i haven't replaced them yet.
I am gonna get the SS lines on the way and put on the car, new fluid and try some porterfields and powerslots.
After riding with them i will see.

Re: 1G DSM big brakes. Need to upgrade bad.

Found out that there is a place tunersnation.com selling brackets to use 4-piston calipers from 1g 3kgt VR4s for $120.
Might be a good upgrade considering the calipers are aluminum. Just need to find someone that has used them

My guess is that you'll be very satisfied with this setup.

I think I have a pair or two of calipers. I'll have to check them out. Or check MN3s.org for a local part out maybe.
