More Tranny Problems

This is on my friends 99 GS.

He was driving out of town and stopped for gas, after he started the car back up he only had 2nd and reverse. After pulling a P0700 the problem went away for a short while. He decided that it was probably the TCU after doing some reading. I just got this message from him.

i threw in a new tranny computer (TCU) that got rid of the P1698 code, and it worked fine for a couple trips, now it throws the CEL when you start the car. you dont need to put it in gear or anything, just comes on. I clear it with the scanner, comes back on next startup.. Code is P0700 (Tranny Fault)
the car is still in Limp Mode. The speedo works again, so thats good. But that kinda rules out my thinking that the VSS (or OSS if they call it that) isnt shot.. maybe on it way out though?

If anyone has any ideas it would be helpful.

Re: More Tranny Problems

So is it that nobody knows the answer, or that I'm asking something so simple that it seems stupid? DSM's are not my specialty so we're both in the dark on this one.

Re: More Tranny Problems

You're going to have to google this one, or open up a Alldata account. There's very few auto guys here and tranny codes aren't that common anyways. Google your fault code and you should get some hits with Eclipses or a similar platform like a Galant.
