cool. If you need to move it, you can limp it by pumping the clutch two or three times per shift. Goodluck!

no funny noises. drove to work ... had a little trouble shifting, came out to leave work and it wouldnt go into gear. It's got good grab, but the clutch seems to do very little, and yes the piston on the slave moves almost an inch or so maybe more.

Re: Master & or Slave
try pumping it, like I suggested. Then you will know if its a hydrolic issue or a mechanical clutch/TOB problem.
That clutch was put in right when I first bought that car, 84000 on the clock. Not sure what it has now, but I *never* launched the car, ever. I took very good care to drive the car quickly but not abusively

Re: Master & or Slave
Im gonna guess it's your clutch disc. I had a similar problem this past summer and hoped for something simple too. I was getting rough shifts, sometimes it wouldnt go into gear, sometimes it would. Went into gear while not running, started car and car moves in first with clutch pedal down. I ended up with a torn up clutch disc. Found about 6 pieces if clutch .

Re: Master & or Slave
Southbend DXD. I wonder if the previous owner launched it. No wait, he was young, probably didn't know how to drive. The kid could hardly use email so I don't know.
I would recommend replacing it with the same; I have one in my evo too, and I LOVE it. Talk to LSE about getting one, more info here:

Re: Master & or Slave
Aren't Southbends famous for going out early? This isn't the first thread I've seen on this.

Re: Master & or Slave
Ok so a chunk of my disc broke off and lodged in the pressure plate, gotta love Southbend! Never again will a Southbend be in my car! Time to upgrade! Hopefully the holiday dosent slow down my cluth getting here too much. Sad not to drive my car & have to drive my wife in to work @ 4:30 AM just so I can have transportation... I'm tired lol.

Re: Master & or Slave
Looks like that clutch is just plain wore out. What kind of clutch are you going with, just a new disk?

Competition makes a good clutch. Is the stage 4 an Ironman?

Awesome, that should treat you well! I guess the guy that owned the car between you and me wasn't super good at driving a manual? Oh well, one less thing you have to deal with later!
