Here are some pictures that I took before I swapped his transmission.

The items of interest are as follows:
My dirty Shep trans.
The unacceptable intercooling.
The wire for the oil pressure sending unit not fully attached.
The exhaust scraping against the driveshaft.

All in all the car is very interesting....I guess they build cars different in florida...

for instance, the whole car uses SS lines (even the water for the turbo), but the oil drain is pushlock.

The car is very clean, some redline dripping from the trans/transfer case, oil dripping from the turbo return....

Why is the pushlock thing baffling to you? Pushlock lines are a lot more flexible than braided stainless. Maybe they just wanted to help ease installation and/or removal? It's not like there is a huge difference between pushlock and braided SS.

Re: Switchin to E-85

Well, transmission is in and the car made the trip from Brainerd to Rogers fine. Transmission is great, it is a shep stage 3, but I'm still having some engine problems. The car wont boost much without sputtering, so I am hoping that getting a good tune done fixes everything.

Re: Switchin to E-85

Did you try a boost leak test? What plugs are you running and what are they gapped at? Or are you running E85 in it without doing much of a tune at all?

Re: Switchin to E-85

Well DB just did a boost leak test before they put it on the dyno and found 2 small leaks, plugs are BPR7ES but i dont remember what they were gapped to.

Re: Switchin to E-85

Should I be running BPR8ES?

Re: Switchin to E-85

The 7's should be fine, they are already one step colder than stock.

Re: Switchin to E-85

Even when running over 25lbs of boost on e85?

Re: Switchin to E-85

When you run too cold of a plug, you run the risk of fouling them out early.

With your turbo at that boost level I personally would not go colder than a BPR7. Hell I wouldn't run 8's on anything that saw a decent amount of regular street driving myself. Why are you wondering about 8's, are you having issues with the 7's being too hot?

Re: Switchin to E-85

Nope, just wondering if i should go colder. DB tried to tune today, but the car was running really lean, possibly because of a clogged fuel filter, and they could only get a good run in at 13 lbs of boost, which produced around 225 whp on the DD. After Shane cleaned the filter and was about to make another run at it, the car started to leak coolant out the overflow. Looks like i may need a new headgasket. Damn.

Re: Switchin to E-85

You have to change out your fuel filter about 2-3 weeks after you switch to E85 cause it cleans out your tank. I am running 30psi with my bpr7s's.

Re: Switchin to E-85

His filter was full of dirt and the main filtering screen was deformed some. The whole internal and screen design of the K&N fuel filter seems a bit cheap compared to something like the Aeromotive units. Even at 13psi it was leaning out too much and I had to abort the runs. I wasn't getting any knock, but with how clogged that filter was it would have been very bad news on pump gas under boost. The misfires he was getting before under boost were probably from it being very lean. There is a good chance that the HG is somewhat blown, since it pushes coolant.

Re: Switchin to E-85

Well, did the head gasket, put a custom fuel filter in it, and had shane try tuning it again. The car seems to be hitting fuel cut above 22 psi, but the chip burned for no fuel cut. Shane thinks it is still a programming issue on the chip though. He was able to get the car to do 314 at 22 psi, so once that is fixed i should be at around 400 at 28-30 psi on the DD.

Re: Switchin to E-85

Nice power, but have you tried putting like a 1.3 BAR radiator cap on there? I was pushing a bit of coolant last summer and it fixed my problem.
