Also, I was able to limp the car all the way back to the cities. Ran 70mph the whole way w/o tooo much trouble. If I had to slow down and then accelerate again, that was just slip slip slip with anything more than about 1/10th throttle.

No you don't, I do.

For a car that almost keeps up with the BeaterX on the highway, there's no way I should have been running 14s. But as I've said, I can never drive at the track.

Tons of people told me they were sorry I had a bad experience my first time out b/c my clutch broke. I literally launched the car about 15 times between autoX and dragging, beat the piss out of the car all day and everything but the clutch performed flawlessly. I had SO MUCH FUN!

Re: Modern Automotive Performance 2nd Annual Sport Compact Proving Grounds June 26-27

Sounds like a great time, sucks that so many people had clutch/drivetrain issues, but in the end those are way better than major motor issues. As far as I read nobody blew their motor up, unless swifty did (not sure).

Who won the Q16?

rofl! Might wanna stick with just having a car that runs.

I really wanted to make it up there for this event, but ended up pulling a Steve and staring at bikinis all day yesterday instead, and ripping apart a deck on Saturday. Ill be up there next year for sure and maybe in a car thats race worthy? Who knows.

Good to see so many quick times and no major damage, always good!

I couldn't believe how many different things were going on at the same time.

Swifty while I hope you do get something together, it isn't always luck and just throwing a goal out there because you saw someone do it with a car "similarly" equipped doesn't mean its easy.

A lot of people see someone else do something and assume shit is easy or talk like it is. I hope you get something together because I don't see how you havent gotten out of DSMs or cars yet.

I agree with Peter and start with a car that runs solid.

Congrats to scheides breaking his cherry, he was ecstatic the whole time.
Trev, glad to see your day picked up.
Bryce glad that your car could make some passes.

A lot of nice cars showed up, thanks for putting on a good show everyone that turned up. I think if things go well I would like to be in attendance next year.

MAP i have no doubt things will keep picking up as time goes on.

I think having the diesels there was cool, gave the import racers a break they needed even if some didn't know they needed it.

Why could diesel trucks run but other cars, like andrews V couldnt? Hmm...

Adam@MAP ran his V Dow the track, 12.9 w/o nos. Andrew probably could have if he wasn't having tune/fuel(?) issues or wasn't so drunk :). No conspiracy theory man!

MAP, can we get the AutoX results posted? I saw round1 numbers and that was it, they were on the trailer that was there during it, but as soon as drift setup started, no one knew anything....

Weeks ago Andrew was told by MAP themselves in the shoutbox that he couldn't run the CTS-V. I was witness to this.

The diesels were there for a different event. MAP ran their CTS-V because it was their event and a good opportunity.

The 2JZ powered Probe won the Quick 3 class (there were only three cars competing including our RX7). We broke after an 8.47 pass and apparently the other white toyota broke as well... We need to figure out how to get more cars to come out and compete in this class, or else set some limitations to make this class more practical and just have exhibition runs for those that exceed them...

Blake will be posting results on all of the forums in the near future, as well as a feedback thread so we can get more of your thoughts / opinions on the event!

Let me try and clear this up one last time. BIR handles the scheduling (and grouped us with a Diesel event this year) and determines which cars are allowed to compete. They reached out to us last year with the hopes of increasing their exposure to the import market. If they were to allow domestics to compete in this event it would be a whole different animal and would likely be overrun by their "regulars" which includes bracket racers and purpose built drag cars. As far as I could tell anyone with an import that wanted to make a pass on the drag strip was able to do so almost immediately, and as many times as their heart desired. Why would a Mitsubishi enthusiast forum want to allow domestics to an event that is specifically designed for you to get the most out of BIR's phenomenal facility?

In regards to my employees I had to twist some arms at BIR to make it happen, and the only reason I was able to do so was because we sponsored the event. Adam and Alex were the only domestics competing that I am aware of, and both of them had many man hours into preparing for this event, its the least I can do to allow them to enjoy the fruits of their labor...

Maybe do what Pinks All Out does? Collect times for every car throughout the day and get a solid group of close running cars to see what they do against each other.

Totally, but there's not really anyone breaking out unless you blatantly sandbag then it would be MAP's call if they get thrown out. Could just call it MAP's Quick 16 or whatever and adopt the All Out rules.

My idea was to turn the weekend into a car forum entry only then you would get all kinds of cars, but from MAPs last statement i say leave it as it is.

I guess I will follow Matt. Ds idea and say maybe some kind of class with a payout if possible? I don't since the price to drag was dirt cheap for 2 days and I hope you/BIR can help get the same deal for years to come as attendance will only increase.

This event was a blast just like the 1st one and will get better every year. Plus the staff was really cool about everything including late night shennanigans.

The diesels were there because it was also an NHRDA Sanctioned event sponsored by Jag's Pro Truck Shop. They ended up in the same weekend because of a scheduling error according to the owner of Jag's.

I'll try to get the AutoX times posted as well if Blake doesn't get around to it. I'm from the CWSCC crew that was running the AutoX. Some nice times and nice cars out there! great driving everyone!

Overall, that was the BEST weekend of racing i've ever attended. I spent most of my free time on the big track, but managed to sneak in a few AutoX runs as well. I wanted to get a timeslip just for kicks since i was there, but the lines were too long for me!

Thanks to Blake for his time on setting up this event, and thanks to the BIR crew as well for being so helpful, laid back, and on top of things as well. On our end... everything ran as smooth as could be expected for the AutoX, Lapping day, and high-speed AutoX on sunday as well. For any of you that attended those events, we hope you had a good time! we sure had a lot of fun out there as well.

Thanks again to Blake and MAP for making it possible, and allowing us to be a part of it!

^Thank you! Getting to just race and not work was freaking EPIC awesome. I can't thank you guys enough for just being there to let people racing just focus on driving. So much fun, you converted a drag-only fp black owner to a stock-turbo loving autoX hound. Good work!

Ok, I changed my mind on the v8's thing, good call MAP. I had a freaking blast, and honestly wouldn't change anything major with how this event is run. It was FUN!

Any chance they can be a little less strict on the 11.5sec cage rule? It was sad to see tuley get the boot after running low 10's on a perfectly safe street car.

Ha, I hope you are being sarcastic. That car isn't perfectly safe. At least on the track it goes straight, on the street it goes sideways if you try to get on it in 3rd. You are also supposed to have a parachute at 150+mph. We will probably put a cage in it, do all the safety stuff, get some suspension, slicks, etc if he wants to go the drag car route with it. Making horsepower is the easy part.

It sucks for Ron though who went 11.0 his first pass on the stock turbo and got kicked out.

That is based on NHRA rules which is what the track's insurance uses.

They seemed like it was hit or miss with them being strict. I didn't get a single talking to and Ron got the boot right away like Shane said.

Apparently they don't look twice a shitty looking 2g.

You can't help but think he'd be better off with a smaller setup and get some passes in. A part of me respects what he's doing, given his budget. I'm all-or-nothing when it comes to some things, so I can empathize.

Why isn't there just a 'slow down' warning, and he could turn the boost down or something?

Re: Modern Automotive Performance 2nd Annual Sport Compact Proving Grounds June 26-27

Great time! Though I wish I could have done better. I struggled all weekend with my 1 -2 shift, which killed my times. I did have a best trap of 133 though, so it's still runing alright!

On my last pass (befoe I lost in eliminations) while I was staged, one of the Puerto Rican guys pointed out that 2 of my transmission bolts were loose!! Tightened them up, we'll see if she shifts better now. If not, tranny will probably get sent out to be refreshed.

But I had a blast. Got to meet Dave H with the Supra so that was nice. To anyone who as doubting that they wanted to camp in the beginning, I bet they are all glad they did :) Camping was pretty damn fun!

Great event, can't wait until next year.

yeah not having to work makes for an awesome event. unfortunately i had to work, for the entire weekend. But that’s ok, i had a BLAST!

I'll have results posted up soon for the auto-x.

Next year will be better. Our club had another auto-x event to run that day back in Wisconsin, otherwise we would have brought our display.

Where was all the big track guys? The open lapping day on the road course had a very small turnout. It did make for LOTS of track time.

Cant wait for next year!!!

Did anyone get pics at the auto-x? I had the black on black evo (with the wing).
