Help! Coolent issue, Coolent preasure?

4 Attachment(s)
So just finished my 6 bolt swap on my 1999 gst. Got moter from chang's, starts idles perfect! But took for a couple test drives get back and see the top(upper radiator hose) was almost rock hard! Didnt suspect much because i have herd Dsm's have a coolent presure of 13psi. So i removed thermostat to keep cooler anyway. Went for a drive today and on the hiway the Upper radiator hose actually blew off the radiator. I tryed switching radiator cap flushed system refilled with new fluids. So my question is, Am i sappose to have that much preasure? Is my head gasket pushing coolent?(not boosting over 5 psi) Or do i have blockage issue or did i reverse some coolent line? i'll try to get some pics up of my coolent lines etc.. Thanks guys

Your radiator cap is preventing the pressure from being released into the overflow tank. Get a new radiator cap and make sure the line running from the neck to the overflow isn't plugged up.

^What Matt said, plus but your thermostat back in, you can't regulate engine temp w/o it.

Ive Run without one when i was having overheating issues, its really a bandaid fix and your car will still overheat, just take longer to do so. It makes your car heat up faster by staying closed and letting the coolant that is in the engine continue to cycle through the engine, then when it reaches the temp that it opens it releases the cooled coolant from the radiator to regulate temperature.

OEM cap and thermostat would be best.

Okay sense its a 1992 6bolt I'm assuming 92 thermostat and cap? And after I do this and if my resivor fills up I'm guessing its "pushing coolent"

Your hose outlet on the radiator looks broken. That could be one of the reasons it popped off.

Also, get rid of those oem squeeze clamps on all the small lines. Those things are notorious for leaking on old DSMs

Use a gasket too, no RTV.
