GT35R questions?
 
So the car I picked up has the punishment gt35r kit on it and I have been having some smoking under hard boost. I put a check vavle in the pcv system ( also has a catch can ), routed the valve cover breather through a catch can back into the intake and did a full tune up. The car is running on pump/meth with a 75/25 mix and I am seeing around 11.2-11.3 on the wideband at 25 lbs of boost with only .5-.7 knock. Car pulls great, but the smoke is starting to bother me. There is very minor shaft play and all the blades are clean and are do not look like they have come into contact with the housing. Tonight I noticed that there is a little bit of oil seeping out between the center section and the turbine housing. I am not sure if the previous owner put the oil restrictor on with the turbo, but I am seeing north of 100 psi of oil pressure at wide open throttle ( built shortblock and new oil pump ).

I know the center section isn't rebuildable on the 35R, but are there seals that can be replaced? Any suggestions?

Look at the oil filter housing to see if the restrictor was used. I have FP restrictor on mine that comes right off the housing and connects to the feed line. Shouldn't be tough to see. If you are concerned about the turbo, take it off and bring it to Jahan dude on here. He can probably figure out the problem and rebuild it for you if needed. I have heard of good results.

I might have to get in touch with him, I managed to get the feed line off the turbo and the proper restrictor is in place...

So after talking with a rep from Forced Performance, he stated that the odds of the turbo being blown with no shaft play is slim to none. He said alot of time what they see is the backpressure in the crankcase can actually force against the oil in the drain tube, similiar to blowing out the dipstick, and fight the pressure of the oil coming down and give the appearance of a blown seal. He also stated that the oil seals in these turbos are much like piston rings, where they don't have a soft type seal to blow. There is a few thousandths of tolerance that can be overcome by oil if it is being pushed back up the drain tube. On their cars, they will run -10 AN lines from the valve cover to the intake, through a catch can, to help combat this. He said the 3/8 line currently run is not large enough to help evacuate the pressure. Sounds like I need to do a leakdown test, but how does this sound to anyone else?
