Re: Will DSMs Ever Be Valuable?
They will. There have been (2) 1Gs sold by NABR members in the last couple of years that fetched the $7.5-$10K mark. One of which was just up the road from me in Waterloo.

Re: Will DSMs Ever Be Valuable?
I think they might be in some time. I'm sure there are a lot of DSMers out there who will one day actually want another, kinda like what was said earlier.

Re: Will DSMs Ever Be Valuable?
Well just like I have a guy down the street from me that is like 55 years old and is completley obsessed with his 91 talon that he bought brand new in 91 and has TONS of money invested into it and IS the cleanest 1g that I have EVER seen.
He will never part with it and if he can hold on to it for 17 years and still be in love with it then all of us dsmer's have something to look forward to so suck it up and have no regrets...

Re: Will DSMs Ever Be Valuable?
I've had mine for over 15 years so far, and if possible, will keep it until I die or until it is stupid valuable for some reason.
The guy I bought it from(retired old guy) bought it new, owned it for two years, put 9k miles on it, and when I saw it the first time, it was stored on jack stands. It had never seen rain, snow or salt at all. He believed the car would be a collectors item because it was the first collaboration between Mitsu(Jap company) and Chrysler(US company). His wife said F that I want a Caddy that she would actually drive..
So it's a salt free, winter free car that I've modded the sh*t out of.

Re: Will DSMs Ever Be Valuable?
I'm not suggesting they will be worth like $20,000+, I just mean more valuable than the piddly $1-5K they got for now, depending on condition.

Re: Will DSMs Ever Be Valuable?
Like Momin, I also have a rust-free, salt free 1G. Non-rusty 1G's I think WILL be hard to find eventually. Lots of them are trashy, and the clean ones will be hard to find eventually. As long as I own mine, it will never see winter/salt.

Re: Will DSMs Ever Be Valuable?
One key thing that needs to be mentioned is the reason why some people get into DSM's in the first place. I bought my first AWD Talon when I lived in Duluth and couldn't get anywhere on those hills on the winter; I didn't want a truck so I bought the next best thing.
It was all downhill after that; but when I bought my first DSM a 16G was considered a huge upgrade. Nowadays the turbos of choice shit out 16G's.
With that being said the valuable DSM's will probably be the 1G's like Mo's or Brandon's that have never seen snow and aren't all dented up.

Re: Will DSMs Ever Be Valuable?
Fair enough. No imports in that list? It was the 90's. Kind of a big shift in sport/fun cars.
I guess they wouldn't have too much value but I am sure they will be sought out. I'm only 31 and I feel the urge to find cars I used to own.

Re: Will DSMs Ever Be Valuable?
I guess maybe I should have asked the question, "Do you think DSMs will be desirable in the future?"

i think so. Especially restored ones. I can't stop looking an extremely clean 1g. be it a Talon, Laser or Eclipse 1g, i'm falling for those more than a 2g. Eventually, 15-20 more years, most DSMs will be honored probably because of the Evo/Sti era in this generation. Im not sure if dsm's(1g) are still the "sleeper" cars of the street, but it's great when people ask me if my car is V6 or if it's a Camry.
Anyways, i'm quite sure there is at least a dozen 1g and 2g that has never seen earth's elements. that would be jewel.
