Yeah, I knew that but I did waste some time trying nylon washers on the mounts. It ended up being the BOV not having enough clearance on the underside of the bar. While standing over the engine bay I couldn't really see the thing...it was obvious once I kneeled and looked at it outside where there's more light.

And how can a fuel filter be noisy? And how can you hear it above the engine noise?

Anything that vibrates on or near the firewall is audible from the driver's seat at idle. Pretty frustrating to locate these sounds, actually...you pop the hood and listen and hear/feel nothing. You then sit back down in the driver seat and it's as obvious as all get-out. I wasn't the one who figured out it was the filter (I never would have thought of that), it was Ron. He quieted it down quite a bit by adding some rubber.

Especially with a poly motor mount, lightweight flywheel, and a 6-puck clutch. Good luck to you sir!

Re: Evo X upgrades
Damn, you have a lot of stuff. Looks like you should have just bought a chassis . Regarding the brake ducts, I will probably try to work something myself on the car I will be building.

Motorcycle cop pulls up next to me on UNI and says "Want to race?"
Me- "I don't think you would stand a chance."
Cop says "probably not" and drives off.

Re: Evo X upgrades
BlaqOPs is shipping my fuel system tomorrow. He had his photographer take some photos of my kit today.
Far too sexy for a gas tank.

Re: Evo X upgrades
I decided to use my stock rotors until they are shot rather than upgrade them now. I have a feeling I'm going to be hard on brakes/rotors this summer anyway as I learn what I'm doing at the tracks.
I ordered DS2500 pads, stainless lines, and ATE blue.

Miss your BMW yet? Maybe a RS4 is looking pretty good right about now?

Not at all, very different cars. The BMW's repairs were equaling the monthly payments for the last two years.
The BMW had about 200hp and its AWD was clamping on the brake when a wheel spun. Granted, that is usually good enough for getting through snow but it's so inferior to Mitsu...
I must say that converting to E85 really changed the entire character of the car. 360tq inspires such a feeling of security/power when driving around town.
I'm curious to see what I think of the car after the turbo upgrade. I'm guessing it'll be 'different' but not necessarily better.

Yeah, BMW seems to have it twisted there. Awd is the traction you need and the right foot is the control.....not the brakes to stop wheelspin.

A lot of the low-end AWD vehicles are that way--they tie into the ABS sensors to detect wheelspin and just apply the brakes. They didn't bother with designing a true LSD and instead just use some kind of central torque splitter front to rear.

I drove a chrysler pacifica like that once with awd. I could not get any action unless I turned off the traction control....

Sounds kind of like Audi's...
So when do you get all the shiny new parts installed?

Re: Evo X upgrades
I's consider *just* the front mount for purposes of keeping the cabin vibration to a minimum. Been very happy with mine, and I think AMS sells a softer durometer mount for the X, it'd be in my first round of mods if I got an X.
360wtqis indeed inspiring around town. The turbo upgrade should not hurt this confidence; torque should stay high and you'll have a he-man powerband after it and the cams/springs.

Boomba advertises their mounts as being moderate. They are too new so I haven't seen any reviews. They look the sex, though, I'll give them that.

Re: Evo X upgrades
Not related to your build, but I wasn't sure if I told you about the BIR instructor who also has an Evo X. His name is Tom Hazen. I have seen him there before. Maybe you want to look for him there for tips on driving since he drives his car there as well.

Yeah, he was the guy doing some laps before we got out on the track. I will be doing quite a few days with BIRPerformance so I'm sure I'll have him as a coach at some point.

That is evoatcha on evomn. He was on here for a brief while, then we had um....how to put it politely? A fucking huge misunderstanding. He might be welcome if he pulls off a huge apology.
