Rebuild time!

Hey guys, it's about time for my rebuild, here's a list of what I've ordered.. Just wondering if I left anything out. Also, if you happen to read this Mike, please PM me a quote for this rebuild.

I would change a few things. Get your gaskets from Mitsu, don't use Clevites (get ACL's or King's from QPR), also get a turned down balance shaft from me or QPR.

Why do you think you need a metal HG by the way?

Metal gasket, sell it.
Clevite bearings, no. Kings are a better bearing, so are acl's, the clevites were junk last year, and because of that, I won't even touch one.
Oh, and buy some damm mitsu gaskets

The Clevite bearings are much poorer quality than the ACL or King's. Plan on deburring all of the bearings if you use Clevites. The holes and edges have burrs on them. I put ACL's in this time and they looked really nice. They are all very close to the same price too.

You forgot a front cover including new oil pump gears and a timing belt kit with new tensioner. The whole gasket set from Mitsu is $190 and includes turbo gaskets and even the nice 7cm one. And if you've already got the Clevites, they're fine if you debur them, otherwise get the ones others have suggested. The metal hg is nice, but if you're only running 25psi or less, the stock Mitsu that comes in the kit is more than adequate. Everything else looks good.

If you use a metal head gasket, you no longer have a fuse for the engine. Usually, if soemthing goes wrong, or it gets too hot, the gasket will go. I got news for ya, the metal one isnt going anywhere

If you've read the topic that many times, then why are you bothering with it? I'm not telling you what to do, I'm simply informing you that it could be a bad decision.

It's not a bad decision, metal headgaskets are not bad. They can blow just like a normal gasket, just not quite as easily.

Don't torque your ARP headstuds to 110 ft-lbs and the metal headgasket might actually blow before a rod goes through the block. I have seen plenty of blown metal headgaskets. A lot of Hondas run stock metal headgaskets and they have no problem blowing them with some boost. The best way to go is to try not to blow them in the first place. It can be hard to keep a headgasket from leaking when you run high boost and nitrous together though. Even if you aren't knocking, the cylinder pressures can get very high with that combo and cause headgaskets to push coolant.

I blew my metal hg out pretty quickly with a 20g and on pump gas.

Sorry guys. I was over exaggerating. I just know what I was told. Apparently I was not aware that you can keep the torque down and they will operate like a regular HG?

Well, if it was me I'd say use king bearings(trusted by top fuel dragstersm and formula one), have the block bored, honed with a tq. plate.(100ft. lbs), and also Decked along with the head because you need to have them both done to run the metal headgasket. New main bolts( there tq. to yeild bolts factory so I'd replace them), Qpr's BS elim, Valve job along with new guides.TT springs and retainers, Cam's bigger than stock(hks 272's?) Mitsu gaskets with copper spray, and also Mitsu timing components. Welded NEW front cover. Also use a quality Tq. wrench when assembling. Theres a lot more but thats just some basic's

Actually, my head was rebuilt 1k miles ago, so I think I'll leave it alone. The next things on my list were valvetrain components but funds won't permit at the moment.

New main bolts like Santa said. Use mitsu bolts unless you're going to line bore it.
