Speedo wont work HELP!

Heres the deal my speedo doesnt work i checked all the fuses, and they are all ok, next i replaced the speedo unit on the tranny, and it still doesnt work. So i played around with electrical stuff for a while and between the dark green wire and black(ground) theres was 5v with the car in the on position. Nothing between the light green and black nothing only had voltage between the dk green and black. Then i started the car and put a test light between the dk green and black wire. The idle bogged down to like 400rpms, nothing between all the other wires. ANy suggestions or anyone know what the problem could be?

When my speedometer went out, it was because of my dead alternator. It wouldn't hurt to get your alternator checked, it's usually free at Autozone, Advance Auto, etc.

Re: Speedo wont work HELP!

Mine wen't out to a bad bit of wiring in my gauge cluster. It also caused some strange cruise control. I think trying a new cluster is a great idea.

Re: Speedo wont work HELP!

check your fuse. The speedo is powered by a fuse. If that is not the problem then you have a bad speed sensor. It is on your tranny. If that is cracked, your speedo wont work either.
