CaseIH to be exact. I believe it was running a 466 cubic inch block.

Yes sir. I visited with the head of inspections the day before and he said that there were some teams who were going to try running 270psi of boost that night.

Re: Boost anyone?
yep. Looks like a pulling tractor with hte front wheels, and weights up front as a give-away. They weld the heads to the block? I hear that's a common thing to do to run higher boost..

That I do not know. However, I do know that all of the guys I saw running were required to have a cable fixed to their head so in case they blew their headstuds, the head could not fly away freely.

270 psi would obviously be on a diesel.

Re: Boost anyone?
I can't imagine they'd use anything else. And I simply can't believe that they don't O-ring running those pressure levels.

Re: Boost anyone?
I'm sure that they do everything to the block that is feasible. For the amount of cash that gets stuck into these things, nothing gets held back.

Re: Boost anyone?
Their are companies that produce bolts/studs that are better then ARP's. ARP studs/bolts are not that strong, DSM head studs are only 190,000 psi and the other studs that I know of are 400,000psi tensile strength.

Re: Boost anyone?
There's a lot more tricks than that. I've seen them add additional head studs to V8's even in regular boosted applications. It's funny how much they actually have to do to most production V8's just to turbocharge them, where our blocks and heads are incredibly robust for a small 4-banger.

Re: Boost anyone?
In those uber high boost apps, they do weld the heads to the blocks. There was a thread with pictures of a straight 6 tractor engine that cracked the block in half right below where they welded it to the head. At least the head didn't lift.
