Question Rod bolt question

Well I got my pistons all in tonight now that I got the right rod bearings. I also put new rod bolts in as well.

My question only pertains to one piston. I torqued the rod bolts on the #1 cyl to 14.5# + 90* ... I then realized that I bought new nuts so I immediately undid the old nuts and put the new nuts back on. Tightened to the 14.5# + 90* spec.

Since they are brand spankin' new rod bolts, new nuts and of course never run. Will I be ok on this cylinder????

*** EDIT The book said if you over-tighten past 100*, to loosen it completely and retighten. So i'm guessing they can be reused.

Re: Rod bolt question

Yeah, you should be just fine. If you overtightened them by a bunch and there was a chance of severe bolt stretch, I'd replace 'em. But you're fine. Button her up and call it a day.

Re: Rod bolt question

Thank You Steve. That's what I was hoping to hear. I only went 90-95* on them. I know I didn't go past 100* though. Book states 90-100*.

The factory book says they can be reused if they are not 'necked' down the threads. To check for the neck by running a nut down the threads. It isn't like i'm reusing 2 bolts that have miles on them. They are brand new.
