Keeping The Dsm Getting A Shelby?

HEY GOOD NEWS! I might not need to sell my car! yay! I'm so excited! lol. Anyways, I talked to this guy from work, and I was telling him about my car and stuff, anyways, he was like "my brother has this little rice car you might like to pick up for a few hundred dollars" And im like.....? then he goes on to tell me, "yea, its been sitting in his garage for the last year, because he needs a new starter for it.... do you want his number?" So he gives me his brothers number, and i call him today.... heres what he tells me...

Its an 87 Dodge Daytona Shelby Z
It has the Turbo II intercooled motor
(2.2 sohc)
70,xxx miles on it.
It is in good shape
leather interior
5speed transmission
brand new clutch
brand new tires
brand new starter, but i have to install it.

Anyways, upon further reasearch I found out that i can directly swap the head on it with the 420a DOHC head, to make a serous HP gain, and will help alot... Also i have a t3 turbo layin around here, and an external wastegate, and a few other things i could throw on the car im sure... including my 17" wheels... So hopefully i can pick this up this weekend and mabye still make it for cruise time...!

Leave it alone and drive it how it is. Don't go rat it out with some shady setup. 420a DOHC? Eh?

Just make it reliable and drive the fucker. Save your money for your kid.

Multiply your estimated project budget by a correction factor of 5 to get the actual amount to be spent.

Probably square that resulting number since you would have a DSM as your other car, and whatever that project car of yours is too.

Probably should save your money for baby mods though.
During their break in period they go through hundreds of dollars in diapers

Re: Keeping The Dsm Getting A Shelby?

i would get it and leave it alone man. they weren't the most reliable with mods. and since its been sitting for a while i would definatly leave it alone at least for like 10,000 miles just so you know that its gonna be ok.

You're about to have a baby, and you're buying project cars? How about you invest that money in some Gerber instead.

Stay away from that car! There is no point in moding them anyway; you could do much better for cheaper with a FWD DSM and still be F-cked by FWD. And all this without screwing up something with "Shelby" in the name. You should be saving your money for the kid, maybe even selling what you got right now. It's almost Saturn time my friend.
