I'll double check with my teacher and see what he says but I definitely know how to diagnose engine noise and it is in the cylinder head. at least I'll be rather suprised if it isn't

You sir are thinking of flat tappet lifters and lifters in the pushrod sense. HLA's (Hydraulic Lash Adjusters) are typically replaced only in a noise complaint or bleed down situation (or to increase RPM range/adjust for ground down camshafts).

I agree that HLA's are a good idea to swap out as they are old, but it is not required.

Have you checked your cam followers? It could be a bearing going bad/flat spot on one of the cam followers (or as others would incorrectly call them, "rockers") How are the cam's wearing in? All the head oil flow passages clean?

All that I did was check and see if there was any play in the rockers.. and the head oil flow passages seemed to be clear. I did not notice any flat spots in the rockers...

Like I said this was not there last year when I parked it so something went bad along the lines of installing new cams, timing belt, and arp's

Kyle from map said that when you put mor aggressive cams in that if the lifters are worn in to a certain point and then you put in say, bc 272's then the lifters have to lift more and the spring is not used to that...

Besides, I had lifter tick not this winter because it was parked but the winter before hand the lifters would tick pretty good upon start up so I'm thinking that this was enough to push the lifters over the edge

Sorry, this is what I was thinking of when I said that. I guess I dont always say what I mean sometimes.

Anyway, I understand you not wanting someone else to work on your car. MAP is the only one besides me that has touched my car. I guess I have known the crew there for a really long time and trust them with anything I got if I cant figure it out or have the equipment to do what needs to be done.

thanks for correcting me. I'm still in school and it's a lot of info to take in and I sometimes get little details mixed up.
