Re: Make slowboy not so slow
Wow, been awhile since I posted in my thread. Mostly because not much has changed. Since I drove back to Minnesota in early June, I've driven my car maybe 5 or 6 times, mostly to meets. The ironic thing is that aside from the dead battery issue from letting it sit too long, the car has worked the entire time, just no need to drive I guess.
Fixed the coolant leaking and disappearing issues, and I no longer have oil leaking/burning issues. I've driven a little over a thousand miles and the oil level is still at the top, before it would have burned a quart by now.
About 2 or 3 weeks ago I took off all my intake and intercooler pipes to have them powdercoated black. Also did a VC that says mitsubishi, but had the letter paint ground off so they're shiny silver. I noticed all the pipes had a ton of oil buildup in them, I suspected it was remnants of two bad turbos that leaked oil everywhere, all stuck in the intercooler still. I got all the pipes back last week, and finally got around to removing the bumper and intercooler tonight, along with a couple other pipes.
Right now the intercooler is still draining oil, I'm going to wash it out with some solvent later on and hopefully get it re-attached tomorrow. The only bad part is that when my bumper was last put on, the shop used super rusty bolts and all but two broke right away when I tried to get them out, so I have a bit of drilling to do, but shouldn't take too long.
I'm hoping this powdercoating will make the engine bay look a lot nicer, I'll post pics when I have everything put back together in the next day or two.
