o2 Housing for Evo 8
What is a recommended o2 housing for evo 8? How much power gains does that account for?
I heard Megan Racing one was pretty decent. Any other suggestions?

Megan is your best bet. You can have one of our local shops ceramic coat it for you as well.

Hopefully it's not your first mod, or you might gain about 1.253 hp.
I'd buy other things that may give you a better hp/$ ratio.

No, I have TBE and was looking to work my way up to the turbo.
What would make better gains? Ported stock exhaust manifold or a tubular turbo manifold?

Re: o2 Housing for Evo 8
Do a ported exhaust manifold and an o2 housing at the same time; you're pulling the exhaust manifold to get at the o2 housing anyway and they work very well together.

Re: o2 Housing for Evo 8
I've had a buschur o2 housing on my car for about 2 years now and its an awesome mod. All of the megan ones I've seen look identical, and the quality is great. Like hughes said, get it ceramic coated and get a good ported exhaust manifold at the same time. Very awesome mod.

What other mods do you currently have? Doing the o2 housing and ported manifold at this point are definitely good mods, esp if you have cams and a tune in store (IIRC).

Re: o2 Housing for Evo 8
Schweeet!! What is the benefit of this? How long does it take to do ceramic coating? Do you think I should try to find a stock manifold and then get it coated and then sell mine when I take it off?

Get the MAP Rev2 exhaust manifold, they have been carrying cores lately
Ceramic coating will keep your underhood temps way down. They can do the manifold and o2 housing at the same time for ya.

I have Tanabe TBE, ebay LICP, intake, turboXS h34 BOV (currently looking for evo 9 BOV. This one is screwy at full load), MBC @ 23 PSI.
I am doing timing belt kit (pulleys and everything from mistibishi) within the next 2 weeks. I am looking for cams. I wanna do those at the same time as i do my timing belt. Perferably HKS 280's or something along those lines of aggressiveness without changing my valve train stuff. I was looking for the GSC S1 and see what those had in store. Those are about the same at the HKS 272's right?
Suggestions would be awesome!

Re: o2 Housing for Evo 8
Heh we don't need to go to deep into cam theory, but real-world the HKS 272's, 280's, GSC S1's all are on about the same level, great basic cams that you'll see good gains from.

Re: o2 Housing for Evo 8
So the GSC S1 is a decent cam? Or do you think I should push the valve train as much as possible to get the max out of it? consiering I am doing my timing belt here and now anyways...

Re: o2 Housing for Evo 8
Yes, MAP does lots of port work
http://mitsustyle.com/forums/showthr...haust+manifold
I would just go with a basic set of cams, there are lots out there and yes you can always go further and further and further 'while you're in there' but ultimately the name of the game is KISS and keep maintenance/tuning a priority over more more more parts.
Yes, the GSC S1 is a decent cam, pretty sure I said that a few times now
If you can't find a good used set of cams you like and feel like getting a more aggressive setup, go for the kelford 272's. Lots of people running them on the stock valvetrain w/o issue, just keep the stock rev limit in place.

Re: o2 Housing for Evo 8
My VIII cam recommendations for stock valvetrain:
HKS 280 (lots of used sets for cheap on the market...buyer beware with used cams though; smooth idle)
GSC S1 (good low-end and spool, fairly smooth idle)
Kelford 272's (best top-end but will sacrifice your low-end and spool)
FP 4R's (great mix between the S1's and Kelfords IMO with the roughest idle of the bunch; I have these on my IX)

Great recommendations above as always We have the Megan Racing O2 housings in stock, and we have several exhaust manifold cores so we can get started on your porting project as soon as you would like. We also have the Kelford 272's in stock and the GSC S1's are just a few days away, as always we guarantee the best pricing I look forward to hearing from you!
