The only difference in picture quality I notice is if I try to watch a video clip or movie full screen. The picture quality on this computer is crap compared to our previous ones with the lcd screens. It is definately a noticable difference in full screen clips. I am not sure if the picture quality is better in the TVs than it is on laptops, but I would definately look at the picture quality before buying one.

Its like MattD Stated earlier, LED is the backlighting, not the actual pixels. your new laptop just has LED Backlighting rather than cold cathod. Its more energy efficient, and can be made thinner. Hence why the new LED Tvs are like 2 inches thick. but your screen is still an LCD.
If your company is really looking to become energy efficient, tell them to replace all of their light bulbs and recessed lighting with Permlight LED products. I used to work for this company and the energy savings is awesome, and yet it produces the same if not more light than a regular bulb.
