Have you ever hired a lawyer? 30% is average. Why do you think so many lawyers jump onto someone who might win a big settlement? Easy money.

No body said it was for profit...did I? I best go back and re read my post then. I do remember trying to explain how the system is set up for the funny kind of lawyers. Or for anybody that is interested to know how it actually works vs what tv or billboards ect say
I probably should not group most of these accident lawyers together, however with all the research ive done the 30% I dont or wouldn't have a problem with. The element anybody going through a settlement case can not account for is the "Costs" coming straight out of that lawyers mouth and his contract he presented to me... which by the way are un determined untill your case is settled whether it may be $1 or the remaining dollar amount of your settlement.

My point exactly it makes a situation where you already are trying to be shooe'd out the door as soon as possible all the more difficult. One agent is calling you attempting to close the deal while the other is getting them all the necessary information claiming its for your files.

No perhaps not but what I am trying to understand is what amount are your trying to get that would be worth paying for a lawyer for? Seems like you will be spending a lot of money to only get a little bit in the end? is it really worth the time and patience? Without knowing the injuries in questions i guess it would be hard judge. Either way all lawyers are a scam and are all going to be expensive.

Easy money indeed. My reasoning was: As long as all of my medical bills were pay'd and i was all healthy life would be good. Its just interesting and fascinating to me how doctors, lawyers, and insurance agency all co exist.

Thats what i guess i was sort of getting at, at the same time when you are dealing, with agency's that try and pull a fast one on you it makes you wonder which of the two is the better wrong. I am not sure what is even a fair amount. Ill send you some details via text since youve been their from the beginning.

Re: Accident
How messed up did you get in the accident?
Unless you were seriously hurt (serious medical bills) and out of work, it doesn't seem like going through this big ordeal is worth it.

Re: Accident
Fighting with insurance companies is a PITA, been there done that after stuffing my VIII at BIR. As you seem to have realized, every lawyer will take ~1/3 of any settlement... I was at a point in my fight where if I had to LAWYRUP (I know some people here will get that) I would still have been out the same amount of money once medical had been paid out, but the difference would have been the ability to get what I wanted out of my insurer in the process, so I was prepared to do it on principle. I just got lucky that it didn't come to that.
At the end of the day, I'm not sure how much room you have to do anything at this point, since technically by taking the payout on collision you've settled with them on the claim... Medical usually pays out first.

Re: Accident
Spaz beat me to it. Any lawyer is going to take 30-40%, pretty standard.
And yes, LAWYRUP. Better call Jimmy McGill.

They didnt care that it happened at BIR? Or did you have to get special permissions with insurance for that? I always assumed they wouldnt cover stuff that happened "off road". Interesting

It's a long and drawn-out story, but it comes down to an HPDE being an educational event and not a "Racing, practicing for racing, a speed contest, or speed demonstration." Legalities are simply word games.
