Its a simple job. I can offer some advice. Factory service manual describes gear mesh and backlash checks as well as procedure for shimming. Shims are hard to find, I had to get them ordered from dealers all over the country. Probably could get some custom made.

I have all the special tools.

I could potentially be convinced to rebuild it for you at a fraction of the cost as these other places. Before that though, you should look at the condition of the teeth in the input socket of the transfer case. Seems like a large majority of the ones you come across these days are very worn and sawtooth'd. At that point it is probably best to find another core.
