Re: Richie's 1gb TSI

You can take the wrap off. Wait for a super warm day, peel it off, use acetone to remove the adhesive, then buff and wax. If it doesn't have rust, the dent can probably be PDR'd.

Re: Richie's 1gb TSI

Maybe I'll give it a shot this summer. Hopefully there's no rust, thanks for the advice!

Re: Richie's 1gb TSI

Got parts on their way! Pretty excited!

GSC S2 Camshafts
Manley springs and TI retainers
FP intake

Still need to get my transmission built and buy DsmLink V3 and speed density.

Re: Richie's 1gb TSI

You guys think my 1000cc injectors will be sufficient for the hx40? Not looking for more than 500hp on e85 until I get my other block built for 2017. I know I'll need bigger injectors then, but money wise I'd like to keep these if I don't need to go bigger yet.

Im not sure what the HX40 will do, but here's a good airflow chart for E85.

Thanks for the link! Looks like I'll be fine with the 1000cc's with my goals for this year.

Re: Richie's 1gb TSI

Update* I just ordered a Calan VS3 catch can. I'm planning to delete the pcv and have an -8an fitting welded in place of the pcv and valve cover breather. Then have a -10an welded onto the fp intake pipe. I'm gonna start working on a spare valve cover and hopefully by the time I'm done, Greengoblin from dsmtuners will have more baffle kits ready to ship!

VRSF FMIC and Tial BOV are also on their way!

Re: Richie's 1gb TSI

Those cans are badass, you want a smaller fitting on the intake pipe side to keep velocity at a high level, I'd do a -10 on the VC and -8 on the intake.

Good luck and post some pics!

I don't think I can switch the fittings on the catchcan can I? The one I ordered comes with 2 -8an inlets and a -10an outlet.

Hmm, didn't know this. Thanks.

I actually thought about whether adding a slash cut (like is done with exhaust scavenging) to the fitting would help any. Would take all of about 5 minutes.

Re: Richie's 1gb TSI

If we have a smaller fitting at the intake wouldn't that be a restriction for the catch can system? It would have higher velocity coming out of that fitting but the velocity from the two -10an fittings on the valve cover would be significantly slower.

Re: Richie's 1gb TSI

DSMLink and a premium built Jacks transmission are on their way!

I currently have a gm maf and my dsmlink came with a gm maf cable. What's your opinion on gm maf vs speed density? Would it be worth it to sell my gm maf + cable and add a little cash to get speed density? Or just run gm maf? The engine is still stock, just going to add cams and valve springs/retainers to rev a little higher. With that in mind I won't be pushing the car past 500hp until I get a built motor and bigger injectors next year.

Re: Richie's 1gb TSI

I'll probably paint the catch can black, planning to get everything painted black besides the valve cover which will be red. I attached a pic of what I want the engine bay to look like. Let me know your opinions!

That catch can is the shit!
Check the thread on tuners for more elaboration on the line sizing and what not.
