Re: Back into the big leagues: Project FRC

Car is finally coming together, did a little photo shoot last night. Got the Z06 Speedlines and the RE-71R's on there this weekend.

Only a few more parts to install prior to the season start which includes:

Doug Rippie Motorsports Steering Rack Bushings
Rear tow hook
Then brakes all around including:
Doug Rippie Motorsports Stainless Steel front brake caliper pistons
Russell DOT stainless brake line kit
Centric Brake Rotors
Stoptech Street Performance Pads (Sport)

Then it's STU autocross time!

Pictures were noisy due to being shot will cellphone in twilight hours, I'll see if my real camera got anything better and swap these out.

I went from those pads to the Girodisc S/S pads on my Evo X and the difference was night & day in both initial bite and stopping power. Dust and noise was about the same between the two.

I'm currently running the Powerstop Z26 pads on my C7 are they are practically dust-free and silent, but they did give up some initial bite vs. the OEM pads. If I were to do any autocross or track use with the car I would definitely either go back to OEM or throw in a set of those Girodisc S/S pads when/if they ever release them for the Z51.

Truth be told, I'm now a bit tempted to try out Autozone's new Duralast GT brake pads since they supposedly have some pretty legit R&D testing with Team Penske to back them up. They're priced about the same as the Girodiscs I mentioned.

Awesome! I'll have to try those next, thanks for the recommendation.
